Greek Marina
About
A Mediterranean Escape in Honolulu
Steps away from the shimmering yachts docked in the Honolulu harbor, Greek Marina offers a refreshing shift from the typical island fare. The air here is often filled with the sharp, clean scent of lemon-marinated chicken and the earthy, briny aroma of kalamata olives being prepared in the open kitchen. It is the kind of place where the clatter of silverware against ceramic plates creates a steady, rhythmic hum, making it an ideal spot for a casual lunch or a low-key evening meal with friends.
Signature Flavors of the Aegean
This establishment leans heavily into traditional preparation methods. Their souvlaki is grilled with a precision that keeps the meat tender, while the house-made tzatziki delivers a cooling, garlic-forward punch that pairs perfectly with their warm, pillowy pita bread. If you find yourself craving something hearty, the moussaka is a consistent favorite, layering spiced ground meat and eggplant under a rich, velvety béchamel crust that arrives bubbling at your table.
Local Insights for Your Visit
The layout is intimate, with seating designed to maximize the view of the marina, though be prepared for a bit of a squeeze if you visit during peak dining hours on a weekend. Parking in the immediate vicinity can be a slight challenge given the popularity of the harbor area, so arriving a few minutes early is a smart play. Whether you are coming off a boat or spending the day exploring the waterfront, Greek Marina provides a straightforward, honest taste of Mediterranean cuisine that feels right at home in the heart of Honolulu.

The food and pricing was great. Atmosphere was okay, felt a bit outdated. The service was not great. It was run more like a fast food place. We were out of water several times and had to approach the counter to get refills. We were never checked on after our food was brought either. Also, the orders came out incorrectly. One order specifically said no pita and came out woth pita. One order asked for half rice and extra salad but came out regular portions.

I was told by a friend to give it a try since he knows how much I enjoy Greek food and that I pick it up from my favorite Kahala spot at least three times a week. I went in with an open mind and ordered the same dish I usually get so I could make a fair comparison. Unfortunately, the chicken was a little overcooked and the pita was very dry. They also served the dish with a strange mustard-type sauce that really clashed with everything. I was expecting tzatziki, which is what normally comes with this kind of dish, so that threw the balance off quite a bit. Food may look good in photo or decent but overall wasn’t too impressed. We actually ordered everything to go, but after finishing a long hike we were starving, so we sat down and ate our two dishes there and planned to take the third dish to our friend’s girlfriend afterward. What seemed to be the owner came over to our table and, in a pretty sassy tone, told us that next time if we planned to eat there we shouldn’t order the food to go. He also added that it’s the same price anyway. It felt unnecessary and pretty rude, especially since we had already tipped when we paid and the place wasn’t even busy. It really left a bad impression. I really wanted to like it more, but it just didn’t live up to the high bar set by Olive Tree Cafe in Kahala. Between the food and the interaction, I don’t plan on returning. If the older gentleman was the owner, he might want to work on how he treats customers.

The owner was so nice and let us sit down to eat early before they were open. We sat outdoors since I had my dog with me, and ordered food when it opened (10:30) The Dolmads were yummy and the steak in our greek salad was substantial. Nice atmosphere for casual to fancy meal woth friends/family.

First time visiting and it won't be my last! The man in charge made sure the kids had crayons and paper, the food was divine and they were very accommodating to my XXL service animal! We can't wait to go back!

I really wanted Greek Marina to be my go-to spot, especially for Saganaki, which is so rare to find. Unfortunately, the execution missed the mark. The flambé was more of a 'dud' than a firecracker; the server blamed the lighting, but the pool of unburnt liquor and lack of 'leopard-spotting' on the cheese told a different story. It lacked the crispy edges and high-heat sear that make the dish. The Tabbouleh was also a letdown—visually appealing, but the flavor profile was dominated by onion rather than the vibrant, herbal complexity you’d expect. On the service side, there was a significant lag between my children’s meals and the adults' entrees. A family meal should be synchronized; eating in shifts isn't the experience we were looking for. While the Souvlaki, gyros, and fries were spot on, the service team needs more training in the 'art of delivery' and the discernment to handle a disliked dish. I expressed my disappointment with the salad, but it was still charged. Great location and great potential—aim high and don't let the lack of local competition lead to complacency!

The food was delicious and the service was friendly. We tried the chicken and beef, along with a side of beef, and everything we ordered was flavorful and well-prepared. We did order a basbosa, but unfortunately, it never arrived. Also, our tea cups were a bit dirty, which was disappointing. Overall, though, the food itself was very good and enjoyable.

Had lunch with friends at the outside seating area. I had Spanakopita and Falafel (hot appetizers). They both came with salad and good portion.

The food here is amazing. Everything we order from the Lamb Rack, Moussaka, Gyros Chicken, Gyros Salad, Fried Calamari, Hummus/Pita Bread, and Greek Style Fries was perfectly seasoned and delicious. Serving size were big, prices are great. Its a must go place to eat.
