Fresh Pasta and Coastal Flavors in Kakaʻako
Tucked within the vibrant pulse of SALT at Our Kakaʻako, Giovedi brings a refined approach to Italian dining that feels both upscale and approachable. The space is bright and airy, characterized by minimalist design choices that allow the focus to remain squarely on the plate. Expect the soft clatter of silverware against ceramic and a steady hum of conversation that fills the room as evening sets in.
Handcrafted Culinary Traditions
The kitchen, helmed by culinary experts passionate about regional Italian techniques, places a heavy emphasis on house-made pastas. The signature Tagliatelle al Ragù features a depth of flavor that only long-simmered sauces can achieve, while the daily specials often highlight locally sourced seafood from Hawaiian waters, bridging the gap between Mediterranean tradition and island ingredients. Whether you are craving a perfectly blistered pizza or a delicate carpaccio, the menu remains consistent, relying on high-quality olive oils and seasonal produce.
The Kakaʻako Dining Scene
This is the ideal spot for an intimate date night or a sophisticated gathering before catching a movie nearby. While the aesthetic is polished, be aware that the popular location can result in limited street-side parking during peak weekend hours, so plan to use the nearby parking structure. You will catch the scent of garlic and fresh basil long before you step inside, a welcome indicator of the scratch-made kitchen operations happening behind the scenes. It remains a standout destination for those in Honolulu looking to trade typical tourist fare for a thoughtful, ingredient-forward Italian experience.

We had an excellent dinner at Giovedi. The food was amazing!! We started with the prosciutto and scallop carpaccio. Then did the amatriciana and mabolongese and the pork chop. Both pastas were spectacular with the mix of Italian and Asian flavors. For dessert we got both the tiramisu and carrot cake.

We just had a wonderful dining experience at Giovedì, where Italian food is served with a pan-Asian flair. Every single dish we sampled was exceptional. We ordered the Scallop Carpaccio, the Nairagi Crudo (striped marlin), the Spaghetti Arrabbiata, the Gnocchi Mapolonese, and the Char Siu Pork. While every dish dazzled us, the Nairagi Crudo, containing sliced marlin, Calabrian chili crisp, charred eggplant, and mint, was our favorite. Elise, our server, was extremely attentive and helpful. It turned out to be a memorable evening. We can’t wait to go back. Highly recommended! Before tipping, we spent $176 for a two-person meal (no alcohol, no dessert, 2 mocktails, 2 appetizers, 2 pastas, and 1 protein).

Giovedi is a really beautiful, upscale spot with a unique Japanese-Italian fusion that comes through clearly in the food. Everything we had was delicious, and the presentation was thoughtful and creative, right down to the plates. Portions were on the smaller side and prices were on the higher end, but it felt like a good choice for a special occasion. What really stood out was the service, the wait staff was amazing. They knew the menu well, answered all our questions, and made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. Overall, a memorable dinner and a great place to celebrate something special.

It took me way too long but my wife and I finally made it to Giovedi at the strong recommendation of many friends. It was awesome. The moment you step in to the restaurant you feel warmly welcomed. We sat at the bar which we always enjoy doing. The bartender Michael took great care of us and we even had a chance to talk with the owner Jen while we enjoyed the onion dip, green salad, and three pastas - the Capellini Granchio, Spaghetti AOP, and Gnocchi Mapolonese. Soooo delicious. Michael paired up some great wines and needless to say we left very happy. Can’t wait to return to try more of the menu. 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
