Genki Sushi (888 Kapahulu Avenue)

Son son and I popped in for lunch today. We arrived just before they opened, so we were the first to sit. The order: Daddy’s favorites: Salmon Skin Roll, Ultimate Trio Nigiri (ahi, salmon, hamachi), Son son’s favorites: Veg Tempura, Salmon Karaage, Shinko Maki It’s our normal order. Tempura was hot and crispy, salmon skin was umami and crunchy, salmon Karaage crispy and soft inside. The staff were friendly and attentive. A great lunch before checking out the Waikiki Aquarium.

Not bad, but not great either. Quick and easy to grab a bite to eat. You can order from your phone and everything comes out with by a server or by train. Would not recommend the Soft Shell Crab Tempura. When we got into it, it was a slimy, runny, and dark green snot color. Didn’t eat a single bite of it and still paid for it, even though it wasn’t prepared correctly. Probably won’t go back to this location, but would still be willing to try another location.

Havn't been here in years but was in the neighborhood around dinner time so came in alone. Ordered udon soup, miso soup, smoked salmon cream cheese sushi 🍣 rolls, unagi Ala carte and for dessert green tea mochi ice cream. Everything was so delicious 😋 They also give a senior and/or local discount too which was really nice. I'll definitely be coming back soon.

The food as always was delicious. This Genki Sushi location shares a parking lot with a large Safeway and due you the location you might be circling a few times before you find a spot. This location was a little on the smaller side but was fine for just having a small lunch with friends or a small family. There were only 2 or three wait staff so they were not able to make it to the table to refill drinks but when they were there they were very helpful. Irregardless to the atmosphere, as I mentioned this location was on the smaller side and right next to a large Safeway making it kind of a bust area and not very conducive to an intimate or close meal. Just a place to stop for some great sushi and go.

I really like this place. It isn’t high end, it isn’t fancy, it is a chain, but it is good fresh nigiri and rolls, made to order, delivered on call to your table. Order via your phone. All at a very affordable price. Often with a wait, so plan ahead.

Gets the job done in a pinch. Large menu and great location. I feel like with its location we could try and put a little more effort in food quality. We also got the wrong tables food multiple times. Got to work out the kinks with the phone ordering system.

We had an urge for good tasting sushi without paying 100. Great location , parking and food was served quickly.

Genki is always a hit, even though prices are pretty high now. Of the plates we tried, the Ultimate Trio was by far the best. The sauce on the nigiris is really good. The rest of the plates were fine. They have a lot of interesting looking rolls, but most of them are just riffs on California rolls or shrimp tempura rolls. Service was ok. Their menu rotates with seasonal items, which is nice. On our most recent visit, they had Hamburger Nigiri, which I’ve only seen at Genki locations in Japan.

At Genki Sushi Kapahulu, you start by scanning a QR code when you arrive, and they’ll text you to let you know when to sit. Once seated, you scan another QR code to start ordering directly from your phone. The food arrives quickly, delivered on a mini bullet train—super fun! The sushi is fresh, flavorful, and offers a great variety. The staff is friendly and checks in regularly. While the space could use a little update, the fast, fun experience and delicious food make it a must-try!

The food here is great. We enjoyed every single sushi 🍣 and veggie roll we consumed. I also had two orders of their delicious pokè bowl. It was so good. I also couldn’t resist a second helping of the rainbow sushi roll. The food here is 10/10, but unfortunately the service sucks. You only see the staff to be seated and when you leave to pay the bill. The young lady working as the host and busing the tables was extremely angry the entire time we were there and we only asked her one time if we could pay up front. Also no one came by to refill our empty eaters glasses or even stop by to check on customers. If it wasn’t for the lack of customer service I’d rate them 5 ⭐️.
