About
Honolulu’s Mobile Slice of Mexico
Roaming the streets of Honolulu, Frida Taqueria brings a vibrant, no-frills approach to Mexican street food that cuts through the tropical heat. This food truck doesn't rely on gimmicks; instead, it focuses on the punchy, acidic brightness of house-made salsas and tender, slow-cooked proteins that make for an ideal quick lunch under the Hawaii sun.
The Flavor Profile
The menu highlights traditional street-style tacos served on warm corn tortillas. You will smell the heavy sear of marinated al pastor roasting on the spit before you even reach the service window. It is the kind of food that demands extra napkins, especially when you drizzle their signature spicy verde sauce over the carnitas. The portions are substantial enough to satisfy a beach-day appetite, though be prepared to enjoy your meal standing up or perched on a nearby curb, as seating is essentially non-existent.
Why Locals Seek It Out
Finding this truck is part of the ritual for local office workers and beachgoers moving between neighborhoods. The atmosphere is energetic and fast-paced, mirroring the bustling urban energy of the city. While parking your own vehicle can be a game of luck in the denser pockets of town, the trade-off is high-quality, authentic Mexican fare that feels a world away from standard tourist menus. If you appreciate the sharp sting of fresh onions and cilantro paired with charred, savory meat, this is a necessary stop on your Honolulu culinary circuit.

What an amazing gem to find on a business trip. Carnitas burrito was slightly toasted and great balance between the crunchy & creaminess. Get it with the avocado. Be prepared to wait but they are hustling orders out as fast as they are placed.

Hands down five stars their chips and dip and salsa was amazing. I got the Asada burrito which was $14. It was well worth it. I also tried the beef tongue, Tacos.Called lengua , you can make as many salsa dips as you want . We got there around 1220 and waited about 45 minutes and it was lunch time. Better to do a phone order ahead of time as it gets super busy. Literally located right behind Whole Foods in Kakaako area. Definitely a hidden gem 💎 I hope they can get a brick and mortar spot soon 🔜 💫🏆

My co worker and I pass here everyday after work and always see so much people here. So finally stopped and got their Asada Steak Burrito and it was so flavorful. The burrito was huge so make sure you bring your appetite. Try their sauces too, we did the mild. Was little spicy but perfect. They working hard in there so when you go just have a little patience because they always have a line. Definitely going back again.
