Fresco Italian
About
A Slice of Italy in the Heart of Waikiki
Steps away from the bustling Ala Wai Harbor, Fresco Italian offers a sophisticated escape from the tropical heat of Honolulu. As you walk into the dining room, you are greeted by the clinking of wine glasses and the aromatic promise of fresh basil and garlic drifting from the open-air kitchen. The atmosphere leans into a refined, white-tablecloth sensibility, making it an ideal venue for an anniversary dinner or a quiet business meal where conversation can actually flourish.
Regional Flavors, Pacific Ingredients
Chef-driven plates here move beyond the standard red-sauce tropes. The kitchen prioritizes a delicate balance between traditional Italian techniques and Hawaii’s bounty. Regulars often gravitate toward the signature Osso Buco, where the veal is braised to a point of near-collapse, served over creamy saffron risotto. If you prefer seafood, the fresh-caught fish preparations, kissed with lemon butter and capers, capture the essence of the islands while keeping a firm foot in Mediterranean culinary history.
Know Before You Go
While the service is attentive and polished, take note that the dining room can get surprisingly lively during peak tourist hours. For those driving, the parking validation at the Prince Waikiki is a lifesaver, though the garage can feel a bit like a maze if you aren't paying attention to the signage. Whether you are posted up on the lanai for a sunset cocktail or tucked into a booth inside, it is one of the few places in the city that manages to feel both upscale and authentically grounded in its island location.

The menu both online and on the large display outside mention a previous, larger menu. The actual menu itself lacks Italian influences. The decor of the restaurant also lacks Italian influences or good vibes in general. The restaurant has some clearly visible maintenance issues and could be cleaned more properly. The friendliness of the staff present was okay, not great and not engaging. All in all it feels off. Perhaps this is sufficient for some people but we expect more from a restaurant owner clearly claiming Italian culture and food, calling it a Italian restaurant.

t is completely baffling why they call themselves an Italian restaurant. The food is just typical, greasy American-style slop. There is no real coffee. It’s absolute nonsense—a total waste of money. We got absolutely no enjoyment out of our breakfast. We do not recommend it.

Had a dinner here tonight. Walk in and all the workers attitude felt really welcoming. Our server Alvin was fantastic, he was helpful and recommended dishes that we like. Definitely will come back soon!

After coming here three times for an overpriced breakfast, I finally nudged myself to come in and try their dinner. Big mistake. I was really disappointed with the evening experience. The food was extremely underwhelming for $220. Steak was pretty crappy. Lobster stunk. There was only one waitress running around like a maniac trying to serve 10 tables with random bus boys walking around doing nothing. This place clearly is understaffed and there is no rhythm in this place. No direction. We ordered a four course meal and after each course they just left remaining dirty dishes at the table until they piled up. They were finally removed once we were in the middle of our final course. For desert they served some vanilla gelato with a bricked chocolate chip cookie that could’ve chipped your tooth. Also no spoons served to eat it. As bad as we were ready to go, they just wouldn’t let it happen. Waited another 20 minutes for the check, and another 10 minutes just to get my debit card back. If I didn’t feel so sad for the older Asian waitress running around doing everything solo, I would have tipped ZERO. Instead she got hers. I really do not recommend this place. Paid $240 at Ruth Chris the night before and would go there a million times again before returning here. I DO NOT RECOMMEND DINNER HERE.

Beautiful restaurant, close to the hotel but kind of hidden, which meant it wasn't packed. My fiance and I are celiac and we were able to eat almost everything on the menu. Prices were very reasonable and the bartender, Michael, and our server, Sheldon, were amazing hosts. Fun, happy and caring! Couldn't have found a better place to eat in Wakiki.

Excellent food. We ordered the brunch omelette and omg the meatballs! Very very good flavor, savory. I like being upstairs w peakaboo ocean views and windows open. I think they were short staffed because we had to wait for a table and it wasn’t busy, no busers maybe. Very nice waiter, Jason. I would have the windows and plants cleaned up and have some sort of fan. The food was what mattered and I’m sure we will go back. We’re local just had never tried it before.

While on our stay at the Hilton Hawaii village we discovered this great place. We ended up eating here twice for breakfast once for lunch and stopped in for a happy hour during our week stay. Food was all delicious and had some great service. Nice quiet atmosphere and they have the windows open for a nice little breeze. Great place to eat and relax. Prices were decent as well compared to most of the other food options around. Would definitely come back again.
