Foodland Farms Ala Moana

It is a MUST!!!!!!!!!!!! My favorite place ever! The pike is super tasty, you can try and choose whochever you gonna ho with. Don't forget to pull the ticket to get to your turn! And the food, the shopping is incredible! 100/10!

Foodland Fact: Foodland Farms is Hawaii's largest locally owned grocery retailer, founded in 1948 by Maurice J. "Sully" Sullivan. Foodland Farms Ala Moana is basically what happens when a grocery store decides it wants to be a luxury food court, an auntie's kitchen, and a snack convention all at once. It's like a Whole Foods but with better food. Their poke section is dangerous. You walk up thinking you'll get "just a small container" and suddenly you're standing there debating spicy ahi varieties like you're judging a culinary competition on the Food Network. Seeing that this was just a quick bite before heading on a day for of adventure, we ended up with four selections of 1/4lb poke and no regrets. Actually, maybe I regret not getting more from their selection. It was so good. The entire place somehow feels both upscale and deeply local at the same time. Like if Whole Foods relaxed, went on vacation to Hawai'i, and learned how to have fun. Come hungry. Leave with poke, snacks, three accidental desserts, and a lighter wallet.

Very clean, well laid out grocery store with lots of buffet options, ready to eat, order to eat options. Staff are friendly and helpful. Fresh fruits, fresh flowers, lots of bakery items, seafood counter, poke counter, musubi counter.

This was our first stop on our Oahu vacation. After seeing all the Foodie YouTubers do tons of videos about the poke, this is a MUST visit! And it did not disappoint, it was exactly how I imagined it. The freshest poke and so much variety to choose from. We also got some foods from the hot bar and the famous haupia pie from Ted’s bakery. This is also walking distance to the beach where you can picnic.

There are so many great poke places, and I don’t want to argue with anyone who says another spot is better, but this is my top choice for two simple reasons: freshness and turnover. The fish here is incredibly fresh, and because there’s a constant stream of customers, it never sits out—it’s always being replenished. At other places, the fish can sit for a while, but here it’s nonstop fresh poke being made due to the high demand. There’s always a line—you take a number, wait for it to be called, and then get your poke. My go-to order is a poke bowl for about $23 with half spicy ahi and half spicy secret ahi, which I think is the best combo. For an extra $2, I add seaweed and ginger, and that also comes with three crunchy toppings like onion, garlic, and salt. I finish it with unagi sauce and extra unagi sauce—perfect every time. On Fridays, the hot bar is half price, around $6 per pound. I like to grab some pork belly or another meat to go with it. After eating the poke, I mix the leftover rice with the pork belly and its juices from the hot bar. It’s incredibly good—basically a surf and turf with pork belly and poke.

The salad bar and poke station were very fresh. The tuna poke was especially delicious. The dining-in area is quite limited, and it can get very crowded, so I felt a bit rushed while ordering. There is free one-hour parking available on the first floor, no limits on upper floor.

The price is here are fairly well priced compared to Whole Foods. The pokey bowl was so fresh. A bit chaotic. I think they might have to rework the ticket counter system.

While it's pricier than the regular Foodland locations, we love coming to Foodland Farms. We always get their poke, chicken skins, and produce. The poke line can get busy, but the ticket numbers help, and staff are always super patient and friendly giving samples. We love their assortment of drinks and prepared food. The chicken skins are always so good. We've also heard good things about the wine bar. Parking is usually pretty quick with the Ala Moana garage. And the store layout is spacious and very well organized. We usually do self checkout, and the staff were super helpful this last time. (A lot of user error on my end and patience on hers).

Located right next to the mall, and 12 minutes walk from Ala Moana Hotel, and 5 minutes walk from Ala Moana Beach Park. This place is like a bounce Whole Foods, only better. You can literally find everything. Set aside an hour or two. The quality of hot rod served, as well as anything else under their roof. If you are an Ube fanatic, you’ll definitely find ube items here!!! I spent two hours here. They also carry souvenir items. **There are some great affordable hot food items, but if you are looking for chocolate macadamian souvenir items, they are pricey.

Opening hours are 6 am to 10 pm. Located in the ground parking area of ala Moana shopping center. A large food market with lots of ready made dishes. Pizzas. Salad bar. Poke bar. Sushi. Asian dishes. Sandwiches. Bakery. The food area looks very good and all is fresh. But the ready made dishes that we tried were all average and disappointing.
