Fete
About
A Modern Neighborhood Anchor in Chinatown
Stepping into Fete feels like walking into the dining room of a friend who happens to be a world-class chef. Located in the heart of historic Honolulu Chinatown, this corner space trades pretension for a buzzing, industrial-chic energy. The scent of wood-fired smoke and fresh herbs hits you the moment you cross the threshold, mixing with the low hum of a crowd that leans heavily toward local food enthusiasts and off-duty industry pros.
Global Flavors, Local Roots
Chef Robynne Maii’s approach is refreshing: she isn't chasing trends, she is perfecting comfort. The menu is an ode to high-quality ingredients sourced from Hawaii’s diverse agricultural landscape. You will find the signature Fried Chicken—crusted in a way that remains shatteringly crisp long after it hits the table—sharing space with elevated pastas and fresh-caught local seafood. The flavors are bold, bright, and deeply satisfying.
The Lay of the Land
While the open-kitchen design creates an engaging spectacle, be prepared for a lively room that can get quite loud as the night progresses. It is the kind of place where conversations overlap and the wine flows steadily. Note that the street parking in this part of downtown Honolulu requires a bit of patience, so factor in an extra ten minutes of cruising before your reservation. Whether you are looking for a place to celebrate a milestone or just want a drink and a plate of house-made gnocchi on a Tuesday, Fete offers a sophisticated yet grounded experience that highlights exactly why Chinatown has become the island's premier culinary destination.

It’s not often that a restaurant has incredible drinks, wine, appetizers, entrees, AND dessert, but fete definitely does. My fiance and I dined here while on vacation and it was the best meal we had while in Oahu. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and actually honest about his favorite options on the menu (something I always appreciate). The spreads, steak, and ragu are a must! So is the olive oil cake with ice cream and the wine. Ask for help pairing your food with a great wine too! Excellent recommendations. I wish we had time to come back, but we will definitely dine here the next time we visit.

I had lunch at Fête with my family and absolutely loved the experience. The food was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. What really stands out is their commitment to using organic, locally sourced ingredients, which makes every dish taste vibrant and delicious. The atmosphere was welcoming, the service was excellent, and everything we ordered exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Fête to anyone looking for a great place to enjoy high-quality food in Honolulu. We will definitely be back! 😊🍽️

Service was fantastic, but the food is the star. Everything was super ono. The spreads for their appetizer were all creamy and the bread was perfectly warmed and toasted. The Chaz burger and Mahi sandwich special were both well prepared and tasty. The crispy potatoes were crispy on the outside and very soft inside and their homemade ketchup awesome. There's street parking if you're lucky, and nearby parking lots and structures.

The best meal throughout our trip was at Fête! Our only regret was not taking pictures of every course. Chuck, one of the owners, was the best host. His passion for service and quality must be emphasized. The ambiance is not the focus or talking point - the food and wine are. We ordered the specials: beet salad and baked oysters (not Rockefeller). Divine! The Fête spread was unique and light. It was clear from this (and the beet salad) that most, if not all, of the ingredients are local. You do not leave here feeling heavy or stuffed. It is The Best. The service was outstanding. The staff were attentive and kind. We felt like locals. This is a must if you want to be happy with every bite.

First time in Hawaii but we had heard about Fete all the way back in Texas! We decided to stop in for an early dinner as we tried to adjust to the new time zone and we are so glad we did! We were greeted right away and seated by our very friendly server. The restaurant is very cute and inviting and larger than it initially appears as you enter. We started with the special of the day which was a delicious salad with Greens, Beets, Crisp Shallots, and Avocado. It was light and absolutely delicious. We then had the Smoked Ono Club which was super tasty and the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich. For the Korean Chicken the taste was absolutely on point, but I would have liked just a bit less sauce so the bun could have better held together. Overall it was a delightful meal and a great start to our vacation!

On Monday, March 2, 2026, while attending a conference in Hawaii, I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Fête — and what an unforgettable experience it was. Though the restaurant offers an intimate setting, it is exceptionally well-organized and beautifully managed. The space was vibrant and filled with enthusiastic, food-loving patrons — a clear sign that something special was happening in that kitchen. I strongly recommend making reservations, as the restaurant was bustling throughout the evening. When we arrived, we realized our reservation was scheduled for an hour later than we anticipated. The owner, Chuck, graciously accommodated us and offered several seating options without hesitation. His hospitality immediately set the tone for the evening. He visited our table several times, thoughtfully sharing the evening specials and warmly engaging in conversation. We learned that his wife serves as the head chef — and it is evident that excellence begins at the top. Now, the food — absolutely outstanding. I ordered the Pink Snapper, which was prepared to perfection. The presentation was elegant, and the flavor profile was balanced, fresh, and memorable. My fiancé ordered the Beet Salad, the Mahi Mahi fish sandwich, prawns, and the lasagna roll — and every single dish exceeded expectations. Each plate was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. We were also introduced to sea asparagus — “crazy good” does not begin to describe it. Our server, Annie, delivered customer service that was simply exceptional. She was patient as we asked questions about the menu, attentive throughout the meal, and genuinely kind. Her professionalism and warmth enhanced an already remarkable dining experience. Chef Nick prepared our meal, and his craftsmanship was evident in every detail — from plating to taste. The dishes were not only visually stunning but deeply satisfying. If you are visiting Hawaii, Fête must be on your list of must-do dining experiences. The combination of culinary excellence, attentive service, and genuine hospitality makes it a standout destination. Thank you, Fête, for an extraordinary evening. You will not be disappointed.

Fête was fantastic. My wife, some friends, and I loved everything about the evening-the warm, welcoming service, lively ambience, and excellent food. The Chicken Liver Mousse was smooth and rich, perfectly balanced by the sour cherry red onion marmalade and pickled okra. The Fête Spreads were perfect for sharing, and the Steak Tartare was a standout-beautifully prepared with bold, balanced flavors. The Koji-Brined Ludovico Chicken was juicy and memorable, finished with a rich mushroom sourdough cream sauce. I also had the night’s special lasagna, which was outstanding-comforting, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Thoughtful, delicious, and welcoming-Fête is a must-visit and a place we’ll happily return to.

My husband and I went to Fête for lunch. We had a reservation for 2:30, but it wasn't too busy then. We were seated pretty quickly. The place has a cute, cozy vibe. The menu is pretty straightforward. We started out with cocktails—both the Kunia Old Fashioned and the Spicy Kitty were really tasty! For our entree, we shared the Korean chicken sandwich with fries. It was super hot and fresh when it came out. We finished our lunch with the delicious Olive Oil Cake. We enjoyed our dining experience here! If you're in the area, definitely check it out!
