Ezogiku Noodle Cafe
About
A Taste of Hokkaido in the Heart of Waikiki
When the humidity of Honolulu gives way to a craving for something soul-warming, Ezogiku Noodle Cafe provides an unfiltered escape to Northern Japan. Tucked away within the bustling Waikiki district, this spot eschews modern flash for the reliable, steaming comfort of authentic Sapporo-style ramen. The air inside is perpetually thick with the savory scent of pork bone broth and toasted sesame oil, a grounding aroma that cuts through the tropical breeze outside.
Signature Bowls and Savory Traditions
The menu remains anchored in the classics that put Sapporo on the culinary map. Their signature miso ramen is the undisputed highlight, featuring a rich, golden-hued broth that balances salty depth with a hint of garlic intensity. The noodles, shipped daily or prepared to mimic that specific Hokkaido chew, offer a satisfying firmness that holds up against the thick, hearty soup. For those needing an extra kick, the spicy ramen varieties deliver a slow-building heat that balances perfectly with the crisp freshness of bean sprouts and green onions.
The Local Character
Walking into the cafe feels like stepping into a bygone era of Japanese dining. The seating is intimate, bordering on cramped, which only adds to the community feel—you will likely be shoulder-to-shoulder with surfers finishing a long day at the beach or regulars grabbing a quick lunch before heading back to the office. It is loud, vibrant, and moves at the frantic pace of a true noodle shop. Just a heads up: keep some cash handy, as the registers here have a reputation for being strictly traditional, and the lines can snake out the door during the peak dinner rush. Whether you are a ramen enthusiast or just looking for a filling, no-nonsense meal, this Honolulu institution remains a staple for those who prioritize flavor over pretense.

Little hole-in-the-wall spot with seriously delicious food. I ordered the weekend special — the chicken karaage bowl with rice and salad — and it did not disappoint. The chicken was perfectly crispy, juicy, and well seasoned. Everything tasted fresh and satisfying. Definitely worth checking out if you’re craving good ramen and comfort food!

Very glad I stumbled upon this little place around the corner from my hotel! I was happy to see cold noodles and they were refreshing on a warm evening. Noodles were perfectly al dente and julienned vegetables and protein were carefully arrayed on top. The gyoza were fried to a perfect light crisp. Even the fried rice had just enough salty flavour.

Do not be discouraged by the small hole in the wall location, the ramen is really good! I was suspicious at first but I’m so glad I took the chance. It was delicious. The portion size was good. The chef was very nice. We got the tan tan ramen and the silky vegan ramen, they were great. The store is located in a small food court, at the very end. There are outdoor tables to sit. Please support this lovely restaurant!
