A Front-Row Seat to the Pacific

Positioned right along the rugged coastline of Waikiki, the Honolulu Elks Lodge offers an atmosphere that is decidedly unpretentious and focused entirely on the horizon. If you are looking for a place where the ocean breeze cuts through the humidity and the sound of crashing surf replaces city traffic, this is your spot. The setting is wide open, designed to let the trade winds flow through the dining room while you watch the sunset dip behind the silhouette of Diamond Head.

Savoring Local Flavors by the Shore

The culinary focus here leans heavily into comfort-driven island staples. Members and guests often gravitate toward the signature kalua pork sliders or fresh catch of the day, prepared with a simplicity that lets the ingredients shine. The bar program is straightforward—expect cold local beers and reliable tropical cocktails that taste significantly better when served just feet from the tide line. It is the kind of kitchen that understands exactly what people want after a day in the sun: hearty portions and consistent quality.

The Practical Reality of the Waterfront

While the view is unparalleled, visitors should come prepared for the logistical quirks of this popular spot. Parking can be an exercise in patience during peak weekend hours, and the open-air design means that when the wind picks up, your napkins might try to make a run for it. It is an ideal venue for those who value authentic local hospitality over polished, formal fine dining. Whether you are catching up with old friends or winding down after a hike, the lodge provides a rare, accessible vantage point of the Honolulu shoreline that feels worlds away from the crowded tourist corridors of the main beach strip.

Again, just a beautiful place with heavenly views, great service & dining, & tonight an extra special treat! Heard “Pau Hana” playing for the first time & thought it was a recording. 🎶 Soooo good & created an ambiance that reminds me of old time Hawaii. Just so classically beautiful! Mahalo much — made our night. Our week. And more. ❤️

My recent visit to the Honolulu Elks Lodge 616 was unacceptable and far below the standards I have come to expect as a member of the Kailua lodge. Upon arrival, I mistakenly presented the wrong membership card. The front desk attendant responded by reprimanding me loudly and publicly, accusing me of attempting to use an invalid card rather than offering any assistance or basic courtesy. I was sent to membership services, where no effort was made to verify my status or provide a reasonable solution--only an instruction to leave and return with a different card. The lack of a simple verification process is concerning in itself. While addressing this issue, I witnessed another guest--a man accompanied by his wife and young daughter--being similarly embarrassed at the front desk for the same reason. This suggests a broader issue with how guests are treated, not an isolated lapse in judgment. Although another staff member eventually offered a practical solution that allowed me to verify my membership, the experience up to that point was unnecessarily hostile and unprofessional. Unfortunately, the restaurant service was no better. An older male server with a visible limp ignored direct questions and, when approached a second time, responded abruptly and rudely, telling me to "wait" in an aggressive tone. This behavior was entirely inappropriate. Additionally, an older woman seated nearby felt entitled to get up from her table and interrupt me as I am placing my food order by loudly demanding attention from staff in a disruptive and discourteous manner, further contributing to an uncomfortable and chaotic environment. While one server later attempted to recover the situation with professionalism, the overall experience was marked by hostility, poor communication, and a clear lack of respect toward guests. And the food was not good. For $18 tuna sandwich and lobster bisque I expected more than just a 711 type of meal. I'm beyond disappointed- the only good thing was the view of the ocean and sun was out yesterday. This visit did not reflect the values of courtesy, respect, and fellowship that the Elks organization is meant to uphold. Significant improvements in staff conduct and guest relations are clearly needed.

Living in Hawaiʻi, you come to appreciate places that are more than just buildings—they become part of your story. For me, that place is the Elks Lodge Waikiki. From the first time I walked through its doors, I felt something familiar: camaraderie, tradition, and a genuine sense of belonging. The Lodge sits right there overlooking the Pacific and Waikiki, with Diamond Head standing guard in the distance, but it’s not just the view that makes it special—it’s the people. Veterans, families, locals, and visitors all come together with a shared spirit of service, friendship, and aloha. It became such an important place in my life that my wife and I chose to get married there. Surrounded by friends, fellow veterans, and the ocean breeze, it was the perfect setting to begin our next chapter. It wasn’t just a ceremony; it felt like being married at home. Today, that connection continues through our monthly gatherings with VFW Post 8616, which meets there. Those meetings aren’t just about agendas or reports—they’re about staying connected, checking in on one another, sharing stories, and continuing the bond that never really ends when the uniform comes off. The Lodge provides a welcoming space where that brotherhood and sisterhood can thrive. The Elks Lodge Waikiki represents what so many of us value: service to community, respect for tradition, and a place where friendships are strengthened over time. It’s where milestones happen, where veterans stay connected, and where aloha is more than a word—it’s lived every day. That’s why I love it. It’s not just a lodge. It’s part of my life’s story.

At the Elks Lodge in Honolulu, the setting’s pure bliss, Ocean views everywhere you turn—can’t top a scene like this. The restaurant’s roomy with plenty of space, And the bar pours strong drinks at a smooth island pace. The fish and chips shine, crispy golden and fresh, Perfect with a cocktail as the waves softly mesh. From sunrise to sunset, the views steal the show— It’s the best place in town for a good meal and glow. So for food, drinks, and scenery that never gets old, Honolulu’s Elks Lodge is a gem to behold.

The best restaurant view on the island for great value - must visit if you’re an Elk or know someone who is! Food is good, portions large, prices very reasonable for Hawaii and that view….right on the water, can sit outside at Waters’s edge, unbeatable for sunset. Fabulous pool and terrace area for hanging out all day too. Don’t miss it if you can get in.

We were invited by one of our new friends that is a member of this club. We met him in Hawaii, and I heard so much about Elks clubs both sides of the story. My experience at Elks club in Waikiki is very nice plus the view here is very romantic, beautiful with the warm sunset. Food is good, service is friendly except the front lady at the entrance before we enter into the building. Live music and people are dancing, very laid back and easy. I wish I didn't have a meal before, so I was still full at that time, so I only try snack and couple drinks, but it was so wonderful.

The Elks Lodge is a private club. Members are allowed to invite friends. The rear of the lodge faces the water. There is a paid parking lot with valet service. The interior of the lodge is divided into several sections. The entrance has a counter that verifies membership, handles lodge transactions and the gift shop. The main dining room has a hostess that assigns tables by reservation. There is a dance floor with live music. The menu is extensive with a separate section for desserts. There is a full bar. The service was very good. All the meals served were very good.

Checked in as visiting Elks members. We enjoyed the pool area and outstanding view. Next we had dinner at a table right by the ocean. Our meal was delicious and the waiter friendly. Very enjoyable evening! The park with fountain and Diamond Head is just across the street. On a Saturday night, there was free musical concert.
