A Morning Tradition Steps from the Pacific

Walking through the heart of Waikiki, the sweet, buttery scent of macadamia nut syrup drifting through the air acts as a beacon for hungry travelers and locals alike. At the Eggs 'n Things Waikiki Beach Eggspress, the focus is squarely on the island-style breakfast experience that turned this brand into a local institution since 1974. Unlike the sprawling dining rooms of their other outposts, this streamlined location is built for speed and convenience, making it the ideal pitstop before heading out to catch waves or stroll along the iconic shoreline.

Fluffy Stacks and Island Flavors

The kitchen is synonymous with their signature mountain of whipped cream perched atop buttermilk pancakes. You will notice the airy, light texture of the batter, perfectly complemented by the crunch of toasted macadamia nuts. Beyond the sweets, they lean into local favorites like the Loco Moco—a hearty assembly of savory hamburger patties, rice, and eggs smothered in rich gravy. It is the kind of fuel you need for a morning of island exploration.

What to Expect

Because this is a high-traffic, quick-service spot in the middle of a tourist hub, do not expect a quiet, meditative morning meal. The hum of the busy Honolulu streets and the constant chatter of beach-goers create an energetic, bustling soundtrack. While the footprint is compact and seating can be a challenge during the peak morning rush, the fast-paced nature of the counter service keeps the line moving. Grab your order to-go if you prefer to enjoy your breakfast with the salt air and the sound of crashing waves just a block or two away.

Truly feels like you’re having breakfast/brunch with family amazing food highly recommend the breakfast burrito, the Loco Moco and insane Bloody Mary. Kent is absolutely amazing on point with service and great recommendations and vibe. Not a long wait after joining waitlist, can’t ask for anything more fast service and delicious

When joining the waitlist, the expected wait time would be 11-26 minutes. The actual wait time would be around 50 minutes. That’s a very big difference. Staff was very friendly. The French toast was delicious. The Ahi fish sandwich was a big disappointment. Very simple in presentation and a small portion, especially considering the price. Not worth it. The general look and feel of this restaurant is tired and worn out. It’s in need of some change and fresh decorating. But obviously the owners don’t feel the need as it’s always busy here.

This place is right by the beach and it’s busy. We put our name on the wait list at 8:56am and it was very easy to go wander around the many ABC stores. Our wait text says 35-53 minutes wait.. within 10 minutes we got a text that says the line moved up to 9:10am to 9:25. This is a run of the mill diner set up with counter seatings and about 10 tables. We were seated by 9:15am. The front of house staff was efficient, and quickly took our order. You will get seated faster if you choose what’s available but if you choose the window tables, there might be a bit of a wait. We ordered and shared the Hawaii Loco Moco and Daily Special Crepe (Banana and Chocolate Chips) The food came fast and it was delicious. From seated to paying lasts 30 minutes. I like that they put kitchen staff tips in the bill and says so on their bill. They open only until one so go early.

Amazing service! Large portions. Delicious food. Wonderful view of the shore and main strip in Waikiki with open air seating. There is, from what I know, usually a wait for seating. Be prepared and keep your whole party available to be seated. I loved the whole experience! The food is quality. I had the kimchi fried rice and strawberry crepes. The fried rice had generous amounts of kimchi and meat. Topped and garnished well with fried eggs and green onions. The crepes are soft and fresh strawberries make it perfect. I recommend the French toast, too, if you’re into something a little sweeter than the crepes.

We loved this place. It was always busy but get in line be going to Yelp before you leave your hotel. Your whole party needs to be there to be seated. No exceptions. Try the French Toast, it was amazing. Eat breakfast, watch the waves.

This place feels so local with some very unique dishes. Reservations suggested - or plan on a wait of about 30 minutes. You can book ahead on Yelp - but they will not seat you if your entire group is not together. Once seated, there is no rush to leave - until you are done eating. Fantastic staff and worth the visit.

The food was so good! I only wish we had found this spot earlier in our stay! The pancakes were so light and fluffy and delicious. The service was fast and friendly and the location was perfect. A quick walk along the beach and an excellent view. Really good coffee, too!

Great place to have a family breakfast. Food is excellent, nice morning cocktails, waiters are super friendly. The only reason to remove a star - long line to wait. However, you can get into a line through the website online in advance, and you will skip standing in the line with the whole family.

The largest portions of pancakes I’ve ever seen. We got the banana pancakes and the rainbow pancakes (multiple fruits). Both were much larger than expecting! Huge delicious fluffy pancakes with so much cream. There were so good, but we were unable to finish them. We did get boxes to take away, and they even give you some portions of each of their maple syrups to take with the take home boxes which was a lovely touch. The queue for this place was huge around 10-10.30am, and we signed up for the queue and waiting outside in the shade. It probably took around 30 minutes midweek. There does appear to be an option to reserve or queue virtually which we didn’t know about until we arrived which may be worth looking at as I think this place is always very very busy!

Stopped by Eggs ‘n Things for breakfast, and it was a great experience from start to finish. The food came out hot and fresh — everything tasted just right. A big shout-out to Kent and Giselle, our table servers, friendly, professional, and made sure we were well taken care of the whole time. Excellent hospitality and great service all around. There was a short wait, but it moved quickly thanks to their iPad check-in system — just make sure you sign in on the iPad when you arrive so you’re in line to be seated. Definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area and want a hearty, satisfying breakfast! ☕🍳🥞
