Egghead Cafe
About
A Neighborhood Staple in Kaimuki
Tucked away in the heart of the Kaimuki neighborhood, Egghead Cafe has become a go-to morning ritual for Honolulu locals seeking a departure from typical hotel breakfast fare. The space is bright and unpretentious, defined by the steady hiss of the espresso machine and the rhythmic clatter of silverware against ceramic plates. It serves as a relaxed hub where the pace is slow enough to actually finish your coffee, yet buzzing with the energy of commuters and weekend brunch-goers.
Elevated Morning Comfort
The kitchen leans into a menu that balances indulgent comfort food with clean, fresh ingredients. You will find their signature breakfast sandwiches often topped with thick-cut bacon and perfectly soft-scrambled eggs that hold their shape just right. For those looking for something sweeter, the pancakes are notoriously light and airy, avoiding that heavy, overly-buttered trap common in similar island eateries. The coffee program is equally considered, featuring roasts that cut through the richness of the savory dishes.
The Kaimuki Reality
It is worth noting that space inside is quite intimate. Expect a bit of a shuffle when the Saturday morning rush hits, as the cozy footprint means tables are positioned quite close together. While the parking in this corner of Honolulu can be a test of patience, the trade-off is a meal that feels curated rather than manufactured. If you are exploring the culinary scene near Waialae Avenue, this spot offers a grounded, no-nonsense breakfast that fits perfectly into a morning spent walking the surrounding streets.

Egghead Cafe Hawaii - Kapālama Shopping Center Food Fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I enjoyed the Avo Corn Toast with over-medium eggs paired with an Iced Tiramisu Cold Brew. My friends ordered the Pork Belly Eggs Benedict and Chorizo Spice Omelette, and both looked amazing. Service Warm and friendly from the moment we arrived. The staff were welcoming, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and provided the kind of genuine hospitality that makes you want to return. Ambiance Comfortable, clean, and inviting. The décor is modern and welcoming, with enough space between tables that you don't feel cramped. Free parking and clean restrooms were a bonus. Wait Time We were a party of 3 and added our names to the waitlist. The restaurant was busy, but the wait was reasonable. Reservations are available for parties of 8 or more. Overall Great food, great coffee, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Can't wait to come back!

The staff are always so friendly and welcoming. My family and I have come here only a handful of times over the past year and they still recognize us. Not only do they have great hospitality but their food is ALWAYS spectacular. I recommend the tiramisu latte and the honey lavender latte, they really got me into coffee. For food, the chicken pesto, smoked salmon, and pancake trio. This place is a go to spot for sure!! ☺️

This place… just feels like a good morning. Egghead Café is not just breakfast — it’s comfort, creativity, and quality in one. Everything revolves around eggs… but not in a basic way. ✨ Perfect Eggs Benedict — rich, creamy, on point ✨ Fluffy omelettes, full of flavor ✨ Fresh, colorful açai bowls that actually taste like real fruit ✨ And a cappuccino that hits exactly right Every dish feels thoughtful. Simple… but done really well. The vibe? Relaxed, cozy, a little creative — like a place you don’t rush through. You sit. You enjoy. You start your day right. If you’re in Waikiki and want a breakfast that’s more than just food… this is your spot.
