Eating House 1849 by Roy Yamaguchi

We were walking around the international marketplace and decided to grab dinner. We looked at all the menus of the restaurants on the 3rd floor and decided on Eating House. The host, Madolyn was extremely pleasant and friendly, we were sat within minutes. She asked if we were celebrating anything and we told her we are getting married on Saturday. She brought over a small congrats sign and made the dinner even more special. We immediately got water and delicious edamame before our server even came over. Our server Emma was so prompt, warm, and incredibly attentive. We ordered the Date Night for Two and were so impressed. The sashimi was truly the most delicious sashimi I’ve ever had. The sauce it was in was a perfect balance to the perfect fish. Our entrees were a ribeye and a seafood linguine. Truly the most delicious meal we have had while in Waikiki. The manager, John came over to check in on our meal, he was so kind and personable. The dessert that was included in our meal was the chocolate soufflé, honestly the most incredible dessert we have ever had. Scarfed it down within 2 minutes… they also brought over a banana bread oat dessert with happy anniversary written on the plate, also delicious and so special. Every staff member we encountered was absolutely wonderful. The gentleman playing guitar and singing was wonderful. Such an amazing restaurant, amazing vibe, amazing staff and absolutely amazing food. Check this place out! Three dinners in eight days - which is to say we loved Eating House 1849. First visit was for happy hour at the bar. Great deal for food and drink and we had the good fortune to have Jarel and Emma behind the bar who served me the best Mai Tai I had over our two-week visit. Second visit was for Valentine’s Day where we each enjoyed the Kampachi but with different preparations. Jay was also an excellent server that night as was his assistant. Our third visit this trip was because we so enjoyed Emma and Jarel on our first stop. That last visit was enhanced by the live music provided by Randy Allen. Emma and Jarel both remembered us from a week earlier and could not have been more welcoming. Our happy hour meals were pretty much the same each visit and we give high recommendations for the Spring Rolls, Chicken Skewers, BBQ Baby Back Ribs and, of course, for the Melting Hot Chocolate Soufflé (not a happy hour item but who cares!). We will definitely be back the next time we visit Hawaii!

Fantastic spot with amazing food full of flavor. Highky recomend Pork and crab pillows or the 1849 EH ramen. Pono pork Ragout the flavor on this dish alone was worth it. Ambiance is a great setting and wait staff was super friendly and prompt .

Enjoyed a special occasion brunch. Lots of choices on menu to accommodate tastes and liked that we were in semi private area. We had a large party and service was great. Especially enjoyed the chicken spring rolls, and BBQ ribs, fried chicken and waffle and halo halo was a rainbow of delicious dessert.

As an appetizer, we shared their chicken spring rolls. The best I've had! For the main, I had the grilled swordfish served on risotto. Now, I'm not a big risotto fan, but this risotto was excellent - just the right balance of firmness and bite. Finally, the staff were attentive and friendly.

Yes please, more of these delicious, fresh and good food. An early Sunday brunch for us here, we didn't need a reservation, and got seated right away. Our waiters were friendly and respectful. Nothing beats a smiley faces from strangers. Anyway, our food was excellent from appetizer to the main course, hot and delicious. Complement to the chef. We will definitely comeback and try other dishes.

Nice restaurant with high quality menu items. Four of dined there and each of us had a different seafood entree prepared differently. There are many choices on the menu and I would suggest for our size party we may have enjoyed sharing some of the small plates more than the entrees we ordered, which were quite pricey and overated from the suggestions we were given. But ovetall the service was excellent.

The service was awesome, from the hostess to the waiter to the manager who stopped by our table and the wait staff . . . Everything was perfect. The food was very delicious. I would recommend a trip to Waikiki (International Marketplace) and try it for yourself. Parking is validated.

Place is vibrant and has pastries ready to buy if you want to grab something and go. Prices a very fair especially because of location. Place was very clean bright light and shiny walls and glass. Super clean and our server was cool the busser Diego was very helpful throughout the night definitely can be a server. Paella seafood is what I ordered. Real strong with tomato flavor and not much more flavor than that. Coconut creme brulee was decent. The upside down pineapple was the best thing I had from all the entress,appetizers and desserts.

I can confidently say this is my absolute favorite restaurant! On my last visit, I ordered the Build Your Own Local Catch Dish with Yellowtail Amberjack and pancit — every bite was perfection. The fish was fresh, perfectly cooked, and paired beautifully with the flavorful pancit. The balance of textures and flavors was so spot-on it made me slow down just to savor it. Of course, no visit here is complete without dessert, and I always get the chocolate soufflé. It’s rich, airy, and decadent — the kind of dessert that makes you pause, close your eyes, and just appreciate life for a moment. From the impeccable food to the warm, inviting atmosphere, this place never disappoints. If I could give it more than five stars, I would!
