A Culinary Staple in Honolulu’s Heart

Stepping into Eastern Paradise Restaurant offers a genuine taste of traditional Chinese cooking right here in Honolulu. This neighborhood favorite is defined by its no-frills, authentic approach to Cantonese classics, making it a go-to spot for those who value flavor over flash. You’ll hear the rhythmic clatter of woks from the kitchen the moment you walk through the doors, a sound that promises the fresh, high-heat cooking techniques essential to their signature dishes.

Flavor Profiles and Local Favorites

The menu leans heavily into comfort food territory. Their honey walnut shrimp and salt and pepper pork chops are local staples, consistently drawing in crowds who appreciate the perfect balance of texture and seasoning. The kitchen excels at traditional dim sum offerings and hearty noodle soups that hit the spot on a humid Honolulu afternoon. The aroma of ginger, scallions, and soy sauce permeates the space, creating a nostalgic, home-cooked fragrance that defines the experience.

What to Expect

This is a place for families and long-time regulars. The setting is straightforward and functional, designed for sharing large platters with a group rather than intimate candlelit conversations. It can get quite boisterous during peak dinner hours, so be prepared for a lively, energetic environment. Keep in mind that finding a parking spot in this bustling part of the city can be a bit of a localized puzzle, so arrive with a bit of patience. Whether you are craving a reliable lunch or a multi-course dinner with friends, Eastern Paradise brings consistent quality to the Honolulu dining scene.

THE BEST CHINESE KOREAN FOOD! We are from NYC and tried almost all Chinese Korean food in NyC. This is by far the best! We tried jajangmeyon, jjamppong, tangsuyuk and shrimp ccampoongki. We came here a few times in 2022, 2023 and 2025. It hasn’t changed at all-still so delicious! The staffs are professional and friendly! Can’t wait to come back!

My parents used to bring me here over 2 decades ago & it's been my favorite jjajangmyun place since. I've tried some other places but this place is still the best. I usually get the seafood one (삼선짜장) and I feel like it's always good and consistent. Food always comes out promptly as well. Service can be a little different experience depending on who's working but I usually get good service. I like to come after 6pm to get free street parking. 🙂‍↕️

If you often have cravings for Korean Chinese dishes like Jjamppong or Jajangmyeon, the On Dong restaurant will soon become one of your favorites. Staffed by Korean ajummas, the service is fast, attentive and efficient. The ambiance is simple, casual and comfortable. The dishes we often order are the Jajangmyeon, Jjamppong, Tangsuyuk, and fried mandoo (pot stickers). All of them are so addictive! On Dong has always satiated our need for authentic and delicious Korean Chinese food. We’ve been loyal customers of the Eastern Paradise restaurant for decades, but when the kind owners retired at the end of 2024, we thought we would struggle to find a new place to satisfy our Korean Chinese food cravings. To our pleasant surprise, On Dong consistently brought familiar nods, smiles and a contented silence to the table as we were so focused on savoring our tasty meals there. Dine-in or takeout, you’ll be glad you came by.

My go to when im craving seafood black noodle and sweet sour pork in Honolulu. Sign on the outside says Northern Chinese Cuisine but they serve kim chee, takuan and onions with black bean paste as starters. There are other similar restaurants in Oahu but this is the best🤙Portions and taste makes you come back for more, everything is served hot and right out of the kitchen. Parking can be tough during the day but evening free street parking is available. Service is adequate, when its busy you just have to flag them down. 5 stars🤙🤙🤙

We got the seafood jjampong and jjajangmyeon. Both tasted amazing! All food came super fresh. We got free banchans too! It was a lovely tiny indoor space. The service was quick! They take cards for payment.

Black bean noodles are the best!! Must have. Dishes are good. Don’t expect too much service. Must finish eating fast. Always people are waiting. They speak Korean to all customers!! Just have to keep asking questions in English 🤣

Food was mediocre tasting and expensive for the portion size. We ordered the sea cucumber and abalone, black bean noodle, sweet and sour pork (tangsuyuk), and garlic chicken. Kimchee was good. Limited seating due to spacing. Waitresses were nice.
