About
Crafting the Perfect Hoagie in Kaka'ako
Stepping into EARL, you immediately notice the industrial-chic energy that defines the Kaka'ako district. This isn't your average sandwich shop; it’s a focused operation where the bread is toasted to a precise, golden crunch that shatters satisfyingly upon the first bite. The scent of garlic oil and roasted meats hangs heavy in the air, a promising indicator of the scratch-made ingredients used throughout their menu.
A Local Favorite for the Lunch Rush
If you find yourself wandering near the SALT at Our Kaka'ako block, this is the destination for those who appreciate a thoughtful, meat-heavy lunch. Their signature approach centers on high-quality cold cuts and house-prepared fixings that stand out in a city dominated by tourist-centric dining. It’s an ideal spot for professionals working in the Honolulu urban core who need a quick but substantial meal.
Be prepared for a bit of a challenge when it comes to the neighborhood's notorious parking situation, though the brisk, efficient service usually helps get you back on your way quickly. The dining area is modest and stripped back, encouraging diners to grab their food and head toward the nearby waterfront parks to enjoy a breeze. Whether you are craving a classic turkey club elevated with high-end condiments or a vegetarian option that doesn't feel like an afterthought, the kitchen team here delivers consistent, punchy flavors that keep the local crowd coming back on their lunch breaks.

Growing up in the DMV and Mid Atlantic, I appreciate what these guys offer. It's a play on classic DMV and East coast hot sandwiches. They throw their own twist on it, but they're legit. They even have UTZ Crab chips and cherry peppers. Oahu doesnt really have good sandwich shops. Sorry. E.A.R.L is pulling double duty because they're not only great sandwiches, but they easily contend with the lunch counters and greasy spoons of the Eastcoast Mainland.

OMG the southern style fried chicken sandwich is the best chicken sandwich I've ever had! Perfect crunchy batter, tender and moist chicken breast, no hard or gross bites. Already know I'm going back for more soon

Wow this place is good. If I would have known I’d love it so much I would have snapped a photo of my amazing chicken sandwich but I was so engrossed in conversation with my friend lol! The atmosphere was laid back, the food delicious, and I don’t know what they did to the waffle fries but it was ono! I can’t believe I’m saying this but it was better than chick fil a lol! I also loved that the portion size of my country style chicken sandwich which left me satisfied not uncomfortably full. My friend and I shared fries also so we had just enough food between the two of us! 10/10 and I’m definitely coming back!

Pretty disappointing for me… had the chicken cheesesteak 3 hrs ago and still feeling unwell. Took a long time to come out and when it did, was super hot so had to let it sit. By the time it cooled off the whole thing was soggy. Fries were kinda dry like they’d been sitting out. Seems to be popular so I’d give it another shot but wouldn’t get one of the hot sandwiches

BEST PHILLY CHEESESTEAK ON OAHU 🙏 Stuffed with delicious steak and cheese, literal perfection 🤌 Added cherry peppers and they were good and spicy 🔥 have had earl many times and always love it but had to write a review because just tried the classic Philly cheesesteak for the first time and I am changed. I know I will crave this sandwich constantly now 🥲

I have gone to Earl’s since they opened but as of lately this place has gone downhill. I stopped going there Because of how sucky they prepared their sandwiches, But I decided to give them another chance So I ordered what I would usually order there vegan Philly steak add avocados when I got the sandwich. I opened it up and they literally slapped the avocado on top of the prepared sandwich when I came in to ask them why the owner that so happen to be there responded that that’s how they make their sandwiches so if you want a poorly made overpriced sandwich go there, but I would not recommend it.

Sandwiches here are phenomenal! I had the teriyaki burger and loved every bite. My Momma had the caprice sub and says it was fantastic. It took a little while to get our food, but once we had one bite we knew why. The artwork on the wall was so cool though! Masterfully executed!

Darn it, forgot to take a photo of my country fried chicken sando and waffle fries! Not a big fan of sandwiches, but this place hits the spot when that random craving hits. There’s a variety of fried chicken styles: Nashville, Country, Creamy Garlic, and Hot Honey Old Bay - the Country version had a yummy herb mayo that I wish they had slathered on. The sandwich had two crispy tasty breast pieces, which made for a surprisingly filling meal. Will come back to try the burgers.

After passing by a few times and being distracted by the delicious 🤤 aroma I finally decided to go in. I must say, I was not disappointed. The inside was clean and not too busy at the time so I didn’t have to wait too long. The fries were fresh, hit and tasty. The sandwich itself was full of flavor. I did not expect to be taken aback by just how delicious it tasted. I also enjoyed a crisp, refreshing juice Lilikoi Lemonade. They had some unique sauces that really added to the overall flavor which left me feeling pleasantly full. Whenever I get the chance I always like to stop by for a good bite. Definitely recommend!
