E CHICKEN WARD
About
Island-Style Poultry Perfection in the Heart of Honolulu
If you are wandering through the urban sprawl of Honolulu and find yourself craving something beyond the typical tourist traps, E Chicken Ward offers a humble, no-frills experience that hits the spot. This spot has built its reputation on straightforward, wood-fired flavors that define local comfort food. The air here is thick with the savory, smoldering aroma of kiawe wood, a scent that acts as a beacon for hungry locals navigating the neighborhood.
The Kiawe-Smoked Experience
The culinary philosophy here is simple: slow-cooked, rotisserie-style chicken that falls off the bone. The skin is consistently rendered to a thin, crispy finish, absorbing the smoky essence of the hardwood fire. While the menu keeps things concise, the star is undoubtedly the signature half-chicken plates, often served with a side of steamed rice and a tangy, house-made dipping sauce that cuts through the richness of the meat. It is the kind of meal that demands you set aside your phone and focus on the messy, delicious reality of eating with your hands.
A Local Neighborhood Staple
Stepping inside, you won't find white tablecloths or ambient mood lighting. Instead, expect a high-energy, bustling environment where the sound of orders being called out mixes with the clatter of takeout containers. Be prepared for a bit of a dance when it comes to parking—the small lot can get crowded during the midday rush, reflecting just how popular this spot is with the lunch-break crowd. It is ideal for those who prioritize flavor over formality. Whether you are grabbing a quick bite before heading to the beach or picking up dinner for the family, this local favorite captures the honest, unpretentious spirit of Hawaiian street food dining.

Take out only. Omg this K-pop chicken was amazing! Even the chicken tenders. Quick service. Hidden gem located next to Asahi Grill , must try!! Korean Chicken meets Island 🏝️ there’s limited parking on street , but prices are well worth it and cheap and they give a lot!

I just got back from Seoul and was craving good Korean fried chicken. These guys nailed it - the chicken was great quality, the breading was light and crispy, and the chili sauce was delicious. I'll be back for sure!

I’m writing this genuinely hoping the new owners see it. Since the new owenshuontook over the food is overpriced, smaller portions, worse quality and just overall much much worse than when it was Good Chicken. I was sincerely disappointed. Everything was lower quality. The salad, the dressings, the sauces, the chicken, the breading…. I’m truly disappointed and will never eat here again. Sorry guys but seriously get it together. You ruined a great affordable delicious spot.

Incredible fried chicken! Everything was fresh and made-to-order. The breading was light & airy, delicate, delicious, and perfectly crispy. The oil was fresh too, which makes a tremendous difference with fried chicken (you could tell the oil hadn't been sitting around or used over and over again.) We ordered the 10-piece K-Chicken Fingers with the K-Chilly Spicy sauce- it was more than enough for 2 people. The tenders were made with quality chicken breasts (they weren't fatty or processed) and the sauce was perfect- flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The staff were friendly, professional, helpful, and prompt. E Chicken Ward was all-around a delightful surprise!

I was really craving Korean chicken, so I searched for a place on the way to Patagonia and stopped by. It was located in a side street right next to it, so it was easy to find. I got a lunch plate to go, and it was so delicious I finished it in no time! The salad was fresh and the fried chicken was perfectly crispy 👍🏻 Definitely coming back again. Highly recommend! 🤙🏽

I ordered 20pieces of regular fried wings and 10pieces of korean spicy sauce wings with a pickled radish…the owner kept asking if I want sauce on the side for the original wings as well I said sure…came out and figured I was given all 30 pieces of original fried wings with a 1/3 container full of tiny little sauce on the side and no radish but i was charged for everything haha… food is good but it was definitely not a pleasant experience.

This is the best fried chicken spot in Hawaii! Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and perfectly seasoned. Every bite is packed with flavor — totally worth the visit!

I stopped by with my friends at a takeout spot next to Patagonia. The chicken was crispy and tasty, and the kimchi fried rice was really good. Great flavors and definitely worth a try! 🤌🏻

E Chicken Ward did not disappoint. When we arrived, there was no line at all. I think the owners were the ones helping out, and they were super friendly and answered all my questions. My husband and I ordered the chicken wings with fries and guava lemonade. We asked for the honey shoyu and k-bbq yangnyeom sauces on the side. It only took about 15 minutes for our food to come out, and it was hot and fresh. There was a table outside, but we just decided to sit in the car instead. The chicken and fries were cooked to perfection, and the lemonade was just right. We’re really glad we made it to E Chicken while visiting Hawai’i. Be sure to check them out!
