Double Three
About
A Slice of Honolulu’s Quiet Side
Tucked away from the frantic pace of Waikiki, Double Three has carved out a niche for itself as a go-to spot for locals craving unfussy, reliable comfort food. This isn't a place for white-tablecloth pretense; it is where the steady hum of floor fans and the clinking of ceramic plates against wood-grain tables define the soundtrack of a Honolulu afternoon.
The Art of the Plate Lunch
The menu here leans heavily into the traditions that make Hawaiian plate lunches legendary. You will find generous portions of crispy chicken katsu and savory hamburger steak smothered in a rich, dark gravy that hits that perfect balance of salt and depth. Each plate comes standard with the island-essential duo of two scoops of sticky white rice and a creamy scoop of macaroni salad. If you catch a whiff of caramelized onions and hot oil as you walk through the door, you know you are in for a hearty meal.
Know Before You Go
The space is functional and efficient, catering to the lunch-break rush where speed and sustenance are the primary goals. Be prepared for a bit of a localized quirk: parking in this pocket of the city can be a game of patience during the midday peak. It is best suited for those who value authentic flavor profiles over polished decor or trendy plating. Whether you are grabbing a quick bite after a morning session at the beach or seeking a no-nonsense lunch in the heart of the city, this spot delivers a grounded experience that feels quintessentially Honolulu.

Reasonably priced fun ice cream in a bubble waffle with a few toppings. Would have given 5 stars, but the limited time special flavor “cookie monster” that was labeled to taste like cookie dough and oreo, tasted completely like coconut. An odd flavor that is not present according to the menu, but a friend of mine and her niece ordered the same flavor, and confirmed the flavor was not as described. We brought up the disappointment and opinion to the owner (i believe) and he took it as if he really cared about our business and offered to make a new one, but we declined because we were not in the mood for another, plus the taste of it wasn’t disgusting, just edible so we stated we could just finish it… He assured us we could come back another time for a redo of another flavor to our liking. Really appreciated his efforts, so we will return soon.

I cannot say enough how incredibly delicious this treat was. I really appreciated my dessert and enjoyed it thoroughly. The lady taking orders was super friendly and helpful in explaining the process in ordering and answering questions about the variety of treats. The soft serve was really creamy and delicious --not overly sweet even with all of the toppings and sauce we got. I unfortunately didn't get a picture of everyone else's dessert but mine is posted with this review. Come by here--it's so delicious.

Double three ice cream is a new spin on the classic waffle cone. It seems like they make their waffle cones fresh when you place your order. They also have bubbles (hence the bubble waffle cone). While the end product is very pretty there isn’t much more to it. The waffle cone tastes like a regular waffle (which I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised) but the ice cream was simply soft serve with a couple toppings. We ordered strawberries and chocolate chips. It seemed like they went very light on the chocolate chips. Cones cost around $12 per person which seems a little steep for the finished product. The location we visited was very small (located in a strip mall) and there wasn’t any indoor seating available. While it was fun to check out I can’t guarantee we would return.
