Doraku Sushi Waikiki

Speakeasy Omakase that is tucked behind another restaurant (Buho), thankfully I read reviews before hand to navigate or else we would have been lost ducks! The 12 course meal for $90 was perfect for us. Every piece was intricately made and tastes delicious. I would skip out on their Oolong Hai - that drink threw me off.

Very cool place. Service is good. The quality was very fresh and some of the items were done thoughtfully. The idea of noodle with the ice bowl design was Michelin level. Personally, I felt the flavor for the sushi was lacking. In general, the taste was lighter. Great dining experience. Tuna Trio was fabulous. Service was awesome and servers were attentive… staff noticed chili oil on my shirt and brought club soda without being asked.

The BEST sushi I’ve had on my trip to Oahu! So fresh the fish melted in my mouth. We sat by the sushi bar and it was awesome!

Great food. Sushi was so fresh. Good drinks. Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Would eat here again and again. Also, be sure to ask about the happy ending!

Great people watching from the outdoor patio overlooking Waikiki shoppers and visitors! Make reservations and be sure to get seated outside. Loved our choices, everything was fresh and well prepared. Really good wine menu options by the glass, the Veuve Cliquot was perfect with the hamachi!🥂

We have been to many omakases and this was by far the most disappointing experience. We arrived 10 minutes early for an 8:00 seating but were not seated until 8:20. There was no designated waiting area, so we stood awkwardly at the host stand for about 30 minutes. There was a $65 pp fee for late cancellations or no-shows, so we decided to stick it out despite the 15 minute grace period expected of guests. Once seated, the dining room was quite dingy & noticeably warm (with a portable fan in use), and the omakase experience felt limited and underwhelming. There was little visibility into the preparation of food and minimal interaction or explanation from the chefs. This fell short of expectations as our experiences at other establishments were lively, fun and interactive. After a underwhelming three courses, we chose to leave due to concerns with fish quality and poorly balanced flavors. Service was then paused by one of the chefs to itemize the pieces we had been served, resulting in a $70 charge. Overall, a disappointing experience that fell short of expectations. Don’t waste your time or money.

Doraku Sushi Waikiki — A Standout Waikiki Dining Experience From the moment we walked in, Doraku Sushi Waikiki delivered on every front — outstanding food, warm hospitality, and a server who truly made the night memorable . We had the pleasure of being served by Truss, hands down the best server we’ve had in a long time. He took the time to walk us through the menu, answered every question with patience, and offered thoughtful recommendations that turned out to be absolutely spot on. And the food — wow. The scallops were tender and perfectly prepared, and the pork belly was rich, savory, and melt-in-your-mouth good. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the fried rice was so flavorful we could have eaten a second order. Every dish came out beautifully plated and just so darn delicious. If you’re in Waikiki and looking for a memorable meal with top-notch service, Doraku Sushi is a must. Ask for Truss — you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommend.

Make a reservation, show up and enjoy some of the freshest sushi you can get. We started with hot sake and the chefs sushi. Also had the poke nachos, basic but great flavors! My wife loved her vegan roll and I gave it a try, it was delicious. We’ve been here several times and Justin made this visit extra special. He was a great server. Recommended the chicken yakisoba after I told him I think I wanted noodles. He was right the chicken yakisoba was perfect with just enough heat to scratch my spicy itch. We also met Todd who happened to be there ensuring guest satisfaction, great guy. Told him how much we love coming here for great sushi. Between him and Justin the service was impeccable. We recommend the lychee martini, the hot sake, and any dish because we haven’t had one that wasn’t great.

Absolutely the best sushi I've had in my stay in Hawaii! We sat at the sushi bar to watch the show lol! Everything that was recommended- we got and it didn't disappoint! Enjoy :)
