About
A Hands-On Feast in Waikiki
Forget the silverware. At Crackin' Kitchen, the table is your plate, and the goal is to get your hands dirty. Located right in the heart of the Waikiki tourist district, this spot specializes in the Hawaiian-style seafood boil, where massive piles of shrimp, crab, and lobster are dumped directly onto butcher paper-covered tables.
The Flavor Profile of the Islands
The culinary philosophy here centers on three distinct house-made sauces: Red (spicy tomato), Black (mild garlic and black bean), and White (creamy garlic and onion). The seafood, often sourced locally, is tossed in these heavy, aromatic reductions that demand a mountain of napkins. The scent of roasted garlic and oceanic brine hits you the moment the staff executes the theatrical dump of ingredients onto the table.
Vibe and Practicality
Expect a loud, high-energy environment filled with the sounds of cracking shells and upbeat music. It is an ideal venue for groups or families looking for a boisterous dinner that feels more like an event than a standard meal. While the communal style is fun, keep in mind that the space can get quite cramped during peak hours, and the open-table layout means you will likely get to know your neighbor's seafood preferences whether you want to or not. If you are exploring the Honolulu dining scene and want a break from the typical fine-dining circuit, this provides a casual, salt-of-the-earth experience that prioritizes flavor over formality.

The two fried chicken sandwiches we ordered came out burnt, but after another 25 minutes the second round of sandwiches were very good. The fish sandwich was very good. Garlic shrimp and nachos were mediocre. Server Aliya did a good job. Overall good food, not worth the price though.

My 2nd visit here! Love the food and service. Tiffany was very knowledgeable and accommodating. Try their house special sauce 😋. I left that tap beers are bit pricey. Wasn’t able to upload better pics as I was focusing on eating 🤦🏻♂️

Food was Amazing. Best shrimp I've ever had. Staff was super friendly. They were on top of everything. Visual on point. Flavors bomb. Oysters super fresh and tasted amazing with the sweet onion, lemon, and cocktail sauce.
