Chicken Factory
About
A Kalihi Staple for Fried Chicken Lovers
Tucked away in the industrial heart of Kalihi, Chicken Factory serves up the kind of no-frills, golden-brown fried chicken that keeps locals coming back for more. This isn't your polished, white-tablecloth establishment; it is a straightforward spot where the aroma of seasoned batter hitting the deep fryer greets you the moment you walk through the door.
The Crunch Factor
The signature draw here is undoubtedly the texture. Each piece is battered to order, providing a satisfying, audible crunch that gives way to tender, steaming meat inside. It is the perfect grab-and-go meal if you are heading toward the airport or looking for a hearty lunch while exploring the island’s urban side. Their menu focuses on simplicity, often featuring plate lunches that pair the star bird with classic Hawaiian-style sides, making it a reliable staple for those who prioritize flavor over pretense.
What to Expect
The atmosphere is bustling and casual, characterized by the quick-paced rhythm of a kitchen that prioritizes efficiency. You might notice the seating area is compact—this is a place where most diners opt to take their boxes to go, perhaps to a nearby park or back to the office. Parking can be a bit of a dance during the busy lunch hour, so prepare to be patient as you navigate the lot, but the trade-off is a hot, fresh meal that hits the spot when you crave honest comfort food in Honolulu.

We ordered the half-and-half sweet potato and bulgogi pizza, along with some chicken. The pizza dough was fluffy, just the way I like it. The sweet potato topping had a light sweetness that wasn’t overpowering, and the bulgogi was nicely mixed with vegetables. The chicken was golden, crispy, and delicious! I’m excited to have found my new favorite spot!

I wanted to share my recent visit to E Chicken. We stopped in for a takeout lunch and were impressed by the many delicious options on the menu. We eventually decided on the Monte Cristo with fries, the Kpop chicken, and the spaghetti. Everything was wonderful; even after the drive home, the fried chicken remained perfectly crispy. My son, who is typically a very picky eater, absolutely loved the spaghetti and garlic bread. I also appreciated the reasonable pricing and the BYOB policy. I will definitely be returning soon.

First visit and it was good. Tried the K Pop chicken and the in bone wings. Both very crispy. Garlic sauce seemed standard Korean Chicken Sauce. The mild sauce was HOT. We want to go again to try the spicy just to laugh at each other. Next visit, will try the Bulgogi Pizza. As fried chicken goes, felt it was above average.
