Cheeseburger In Paradise
About
A Slice of Paradise in Waikiki
Steps away from the crashing surf of Waikiki Beach, Cheeseburger in Paradise serves up exactly what the name promises: a classic, no-nonsense American burger experience with a heavy dose of tropical flair. This is the spot for travelers who want to trade their sandy footwear for a cold drink and a hearty meal without leaving the heart of Honolulu's most iconic tourist corridor.
The Flavor of the Islands
The menu leans heavily into the comfort food territory. You will find their signature half-pound burgers dripping with cheese, served on toasted buns that hold up surprisingly well against the juices of a flame-broiled patty. It is not just about the beef, though; the menu features island-inspired appetizers and massive portions of tropical cocktails that come topped with pineapple wedges and maraschino cherries. You can hear the hum of the crowd over the clinking of glasses and the faint, upbeat sound of island pop playing through the speakers.
What to Expect
The space is built for volume and high energy, designed to handle the post-beach rush. The open-air architecture invites the salt-tinged breeze in, though be prepared for a lively, boisterous atmosphere that can lean toward the loud side during peak dinner hours. It is an unpretentious, straightforward joint—perfect for a casual lunch after a morning in the Pacific or a late-night bite after exploring the nightlife near Kalakaua Avenue. Be mindful that during the golden hour, the entryway can get quite crowded with visitors waiting for a table, so swinging by slightly before or after the main rush is a smart local tactic.

Food was ok. Just didn't like pigeons/birds walking around the inside (not the restaurant's fault). It's obviously on the beach and the restaurant has an open concept design which allows for air to come in from the beach ⛱️.

Overall Experience was good. Burger could have used teriyaki sauce but still good. The Mango Smoothie (non-alcoholic) though is a MUST. Fresh and so good on a hot day!

Great location for a meal and a drink. Cheeseburgers and fish salad were excellent. Ask for Noah to serve you for quality service and local information.

We didn’t have to wait in line and were seated quickly. Had the best server ever! I forgot her name but she was Asian and her name started with a K. Kimberly I think? She was so sweet and amazing at her job! The burgers were delicious and so were the mango mojitos. Such a fun spot! Drinks were a bit pricey but worth it.

I presume this establishment attracts a ton of business based on location and not because of the food. This is our first visit to Oahu and first dining experience here after a great stroll down Waikiki Beach. From the street, Cheeseburger is inviting. The staff is decently welcoming and friendly and we were seated at a comfy high top. The beer selection was the highlight of the menu as it featured many local craft options. The menu itself was alright. A lot of $25 burger options. My burger was easily forgettable as was my wife’s salad. We’re hopeful that Oahu has much better options than this for a casual dinner.

I've dined at Cheeseburger in Paradise every time I have visited the island. The last time being in 2007, so alot has changed since my last trip here, but the ambiance of open windows and an ocean breeze is still the same. The coconut shrimp was delicious and the dipping sauce was perfect. I ordered the fish Tacos add avocado. And they were so fresh & flavorful. My BF went with the chicken bacon Swiss, plane add mushrooms and it was so fire. Being happy Hour I had a mui mai Thai, very good. This restaurant gets loud when the games are on but the ambiance is everything, even tho it was pouring rain we had a nice breeze coming in and could hear the waves crash in the distance. Exceptional food & Megan was an amazing server, super attentive and kind.

Cheeseburger in Paradise in Waikiki is perfectly located—right across the street from the beach. We were seated with a great view overlooking the ocean, and I got to watch the sunset right from my table. Can't beat that kind of spot for a casual meal in Waikiki. Service was phenomenal. We hit it during what seemed like peak dinner rush, but the hostess was welcoming and got us seated almost immediately. Our waiter was super personable, jumped right in with drink orders, and everything came out fast—drinks quick, and our burgers arrived lightning fast when we skipped apps and went straight to entrees. Ideal for a burger joint when you're hungry. The burgers were good—solid, hit the mark for what you'd expect from a quick, beachy burger spot, nothing over-the-top but definitely satisfying. Atmosphere is open, airy, and lively (read: loud, in the best way for that island energy). One miss: the fries tasted and felt like frozen store-bought ones (Walmart Great Value style)—a bit disappointing since the rest was so speedy and fresh-tasting. Overall, great for a decent, fast burger with killer views and location. If you're in Waikiki and want something straightforward with ocean vibes, this place delivers. The sunset alone made it worth it.

I the middle of a beautiful walk along Waikiki beach we tried this lovely spot for breakfast. We were seated with a gorgeous view of the waterfront. Good selection on the breakfast menu. Lisa started off with a bloody Mary that was very nice. The food and service was excellent and we are looking forward to going back for an evening meal.
