A Refreshing Escape in Kakaako
Stepping into this Kapiolani Boulevard spot feels like a quick departure from the urban heat of Honolulu. The minimalist aesthetic allows the vibrant colors of the fruit teas to take center stage, making it an ideal pit stop for those wandering near the Blaisdell Center. You will hear the rhythmic hum of blenders and the soft clinking of boba pearls hitting the bottom of plastic cups as the staff crafts drinks to order.
The Art of the Cream Cap
The signature draw here is the thick, whipped cheese foam that sits atop freshly brewed teas. Unlike a standard boba shop, the texture is velvety and leans toward a savory-sweet profile that balances the bitterness of premium oolong or green tea. Their menu focuses on precision; expect a slight wait during peak afternoon hours when the local office crowd stops by for a midday pick-me-up. Whether you choose a classic strawberry fruit tea or a rich matcha base, the key is the ritual—sliding the lid off to savor that first salty, creamy layer before mixing it into the tea below.
Local Tips for Your Visit
Parking in this busy section of Honolulu can be a tight squeeze, so consider pulling into the nearby structure or timing your visit during off-peak hours. It is the perfect atmosphere for a quick, social hangout rather than a long-duration work session. The staff is known for their customization, so do not hesitate to adjust the sugar levels if you prefer the natural floral notes of the tea to shine through. It is a straightforward, no-frills experience that prioritizes the quality of the tea leaves and the consistency of that signature foam.

The teas were really good! The store itself is really cute and a nice ambiance. However my only problem was the prices. I got the passion yakult drink and it costed $6.75 which I thought was a bit overpriced, but other than that it was really good! They do validate for parking but I wouldnt pay for the parking just to go to this place. If I was in the area then I would visit. Edit: 4/22/2019 I decided to update my review because I think it should be updated. I came back here with my friend a couple of times and decided to get a different drink, the Passion Fruit Green Tea, and man did it change my mind about this place. It's a bit cheaper, plus they add a bunch of sliced fruit in it making it taste even more delicious! Changing from 4 stars to 5 stars because the price was worth the drink :)

The fruit milks are refreshing, and the matcha plant tea hits the spot for matcha lovers. The brown sugar boba with cheese was honestly ok though, but the staff is really nice, and drinks come out fast. Will definitely be coming back!

I love this place and go whenever I’m in the area. All the drinks I’ve gotten are great, they’ve got a lot of cool flavors, AC, free wifi, sooo many cute sitting areas (they have mini couches), and easy access to outlets. The staff are also very polite. I really don’t understand how this place isn’t more busy.

If you are cruising along Kapiolani Blvd by The Original Pancake House, have a little treat and relaxation at Cheese Tea. The menu of variety of drinks is a wonderful selection. The place is just so cute with decorations. You have to keep your eye open while walking since the place is small to find. Great for families and young teens or adults.

I've tried a lot of boba, but Cheese Tea is my absolute favorite! The best. Cute, quiet, relaxing environment. Will be spending more money here for sure.

Hands down the best tea place I've been on the island. I recently moved to Honolulu and am on a mission of searching for the best Boba!! We ordered a brown sugar HK style milk tea and Plant Oreo Matcha (Matcha tea with cheese cap with Oreo toppings). You can taste the real ingredients, not the chemical powder most places use to add flavor. The teas were so creative and well made. Can't wait to try everything on the menu.

Friendly staff. Drinks are yummy. Novelty, their cafe is cat themed and you can get drinks with cheese in. Cups decent and can be kept and reused. Merchandise for sale. I paid $5.76 for my pineapple green Tea.

Cheese Cafe is perfect for a refreshing drink, place to do your homework (free wifi), soft music, and if you are looking for a very cute cat themed cafe. The drink that I got was the limited Snow Sakura Latte, my other friend got the Passion Fruit Green Tea, and my other friend got the Banana Blueberry Smoothie. The Snow Sakura Latte actually tasted like Sakura and was delicious. The Passion Fruit Green Tea and Banana Blueberry Smoothie were both very refreshing. Staff was very nice and the drinks range from $3-6 and all have beautiful designs with a cute reusable cup to go.
