Sweet Traditions in the Heart of Honolulu

Stepping into Chee Hoo Patisserie feels like a bright, sugar-dusted morning in the islands. Located in the bustling heart of Honolulu, this spot ditches the stiff, formal bakery aesthetic for something far more approachable and authentic. You will immediately notice the aroma of toasted coconut and caramelized sugar clinging to the air, cutting through the tropical humidity that drifts in whenever the door swings open.

Island Flavors, French Technique

The display cases here bridge the gap between classic French patisserie and local Hawaii comfort food. While you might find delicate croissants, the real draw is their willingness to incorporate local ingredients like lilikoi and haupia into elevated doughs. Whether you are looking for a mid-morning pick-me-up or a box of treats to bring to a family gathering, the textures are consistently layered and precise.

The Local Pace

Be prepared for the pace to shift the moment you walk in; it is a popular spot for neighborhood regulars, so expect a bit of a queue if you arrive during the peak weekend morning rush. It is a tight space, so while you can grab a quick bite to eat while standing, it is best suited for those looking to carry out their bounty to the beach or back home. You might have to squeeze past a few locals trading neighborhood news, but the slight congestion only adds to the charm of this Honolulu gem. It is the kind of place that rewards patience with buttery, flaky rewards that capture the true essence of an island-style indulgence.

Decent selection of pastries, we got a red velvet cake croissant. The flavor was great but the croissant was a little dense. But I would still get it again.

Nice open air cafe. Tried the French Hot Dog which is in a everything like seasoning croissant, absolutely delicious. Crunchy on the outside, soft with a slight chew on the inside. Croque Monsier also good. Coffee and milk tea also decent.

Very bland pastries!! They worry more about the looks than taste. None are fresh, the guy said some are 3 days old. The staff is very nice but can't make up for lousy food.

Regular pastries are very expensive. Look at the beautiful picture of the crossaint on the TV, then look at the manufactured item theyre selling. False advertising. The Fougese bread is better value, tastes good, serves almost 3 people. The coffee was very regular. No fan of pastries is interested in "red velvet crossaints" its an abomination invented for tourists. Make normal pastries, lower your price. Was only a 1 time stop, there are better places, and im not talking about charbucks.

We went to the Hilton Hawaiian village Chee Hoo Patisserie and was so elated because the staff was so friendly, Fran was especially courteous and kind. The food was delicious. We had a couple of the sandwiches and black coffee. We enjoyed especially the red fruit croissant. Just the perfect amount of sweetness and tartness with the jam filling on the inside. It was space and un cramped. The table spacing apart was just perfect.

Coffee is meh but expensive, which seems standard for Waikiki for some reason. All cups are plastic, no glasses or mugs even if you're dining in. Space is beautiful because of the open area overlooking the outdoors, and staff were efficient.

We really enjoyed the croissants here and the bacon cheese fugasse was delicious! Best things we ate at the Hawaiian Village were from here. The people were very friendly. Happy to return here.

Great place to get a light breakfast snack and coffee. The Carmel Lattes were very rich and amazing. The kids absolutely loved the Malasadas and cinnamon rolls. Perfect way to start off your morning at the beach. A decent amount of seating at the place itself, however sometimes it's just easier to grab and go. The line gets pretty busy.
