Charleys Cheesesteaks (Navy Exchange Food Court Building 631)
About
A Reliable Pitstop at the Navy Exchange
When you are navigating the bustle of the Navy Exchange near Pearl Harbor, hunger often strikes at the most inconvenient times. Charleys Cheesesteaks, situated right within the Building 631 food court, offers a familiar, no-frills solution for those stationed at or visiting the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam area.
Sizzling Grills and On-the-Go Dining
The main draw here is the sensory experience of watching your meal prepared on a hot, flat-top grill. The sound of thinly sliced steak hitting the metal, accompanied by the scent of melting provolone and grilled onions, provides a quick infusion of energy during a busy workday. Their signature Philly cheesesteaks are served piping hot, often paired with a side of golden, crinkle-cut fries that provide a satisfying crunch.
The Practicality of the Navy Exchange Food Court
This location caters specifically to service members, families, and base personnel who need a fast, consistent meal without venturing off-base into the heavier traffic of downtown Honolulu. While the food court setting can get quite lively—and sometimes loud—during peak lunch hours, it serves its purpose perfectly as a high-efficiency refueling station. Parking near the exchange is generally plentiful, though you should be prepared for the typical security checkpoints required for base access.
Whether you are craving a classic cheesesteak topped with sautéed mushrooms or looking to grab a quick fountain soda between errands, this spot delivers exactly what you expect: a substantial, warm meal that keeps you moving through your day.

3 teenagers working, maybe they were overwhelmed. Ordered a regular Philly cheesesteak with no mushrooms. I have never at any Charley’s location gotten raw, not at all seared onions and bell peppers on any sandwich. Unfortunately I got it to go and noticed when it wasn’t worth driving back. I will not be ordering from that location again.

I wanted to get something to eat from here unfortunately never again. The sad part was the chicken sandwich had only 4 pieces, the fries was hardly cooked, and the lettuce was not much in the sandwich.

Ordered Cheese and Bacon fries and the server gives them to me with cold bacon on top...you could visibily see that they were still cold due to the color and it seems like they were just thawed and not heated up. Gave them back to get heated up and she just held them under the fry warmer with an attitude as if I'm inconveniencing her.

The bun was grilled, so was warm kinda crispy on the outside, soft and delicious on the inside. I had the chicken California and loved it!!! Small sandwich, and fries for $8. What a deal👍 Only rated 3 stars for atmosphere cuz we couldn't find a table for awhile. Will still go back for sure.

Unlike any other Charley's I've been to. The meat wasn't even chopped up, the peppers raw and not cooked. The cheese wasn't melted. Definitely not choosing this on the island again.

I was over charged for 3 chicken philly specials. The sign showed a chicken philly with fries for $6.49. She ordered 3 specials and 3 peach lemonades. The server told me I can’t order a drink. I said I would pay for the drinks. In stead of the server adding 3 drinks she re-rang the meals as normal $5.65 for each sandwich and $3.19 for each the meal and added $1.60 up charge form a fountain drink to the lemonade. So I paid $32.80 for three meals that was on special for today. I should’ve been charged something like $24.27 plus tax. It was lunch time so I didn’t want to hold up the line but I didn’t and still don’t understand why I couldn’t get the special and pay separately for my drinks if she couldn’t ring it up as a deal with a drink.

The staff is really friendly and helpful. I ordered The Prime Jalapeno Steak because it was a limited time item and I was pretty excited about it. The food came out hot and fresh. But the steak was pretty bland. The cheese helps give it flavor along with the jalapenos but I could definitely tell the meat was unflavored. It was juciy though. The fries were a welcomed addition. Theyre regular hot fries. Still a decent meal but I still left hungry even though I ordered a regular.

I love Charley's!!! My most often ordered is the pepperoni steak with ultimate fries! It is so good! Of course they have other good sandwiches but this is just my personal most liked sandwich. There was one time they gave me some very un-ultimate ultimate fries... but it was quickly resolved when I showed the cashier.
