Morning Rituals in Diamond Head

Tucked away near the base of Diamond Head, Cafe Morey's has become a staple for locals seeking a quiet start to the day away from the intense bustle of Waikiki. The space feels like a reimagined living room, defined by an abundance of natural light hitting minimalist wooden tables and the persistent, comforting hiss of the espresso machine.

The Art of the Toast

While the coffee program is robust, the kitchen is best known for its thick-cut honey toast. Served with a precise dollop of whipped cream and seasonal fruit, it strikes that rare balance between a decadent dessert and a respectable breakfast. The menu leans into a Japanese-influenced cafe aesthetic, featuring savory egg sandwiches that hold their shape perfectly and sourdough toast variants that crackle audibly under a fork.

A Few Things to Know

It is worth noting that the seating arrangement is quite compact. If you visit during peak weekend hours, expect a cozy proximity to your neighbors—you will likely hear the muffled snippets of conversations about surfing conditions or hiking trails. It is the ideal spot for a solitary reader or a pair of friends catching up before heading toward the nearby coastal paths. Don't let the modest storefront fool you; this is where the neighborhood gathers for a quick, consistent caffeine fix before the island sun gets too high.

Such a cute place! I used to live in the neighborhood and loved coming here for coffee and breakfast. Beautiful views of diamond head, friendly service, food is pretty good too! Great little breakfast spot to check out if you’re in the neighborhood.

Returned for a few visits during our stay in Waikiki. Great brunch spot just a short walk north of the main tourist strip with really great brunch and lunch plates with nice fresh high quality ingredients. The eggs benny, shrimp and BBQ chicken plate with fried rice were amazing. The açaí bowl was delicious. Good cup of coffee. Nice clean and cute atmosphere. Recommended!

After walking around Diamond Head, I stopped in for some breakfast at Cafe Morey’s. What a delight. The staff were extremely friendly and very responsive to my requests. The food is wonderful and the atmosphere is ideal for a kick start breakfast. I enjoyed the baguette French toast with blueberry compote, fresh blueberries and whipped cream. What a treat. Perfectly delivered and excellently prepared. So yummy. I added two eggs over easy as a side protein plus a delicious cup of coffee to round out my meal. Cafe Morey’s is now on my favorites list for my next trip to Honolulu.

While the food was pretty good, their service doesn’t match - pretty slow, especially with the waitlist. It looks like, they follow it regardless the availability of tables inside. So, although there was three tables for two free, the next party on the waitlist was for four people, and we had to wait a table for four to be available to be seated in. Bear in mind that this logistic may increase waiting times.

I had a wonderful experience at Cafe Morey's Diamond Head! The moment I walked in, I was energized by the lovely, vibrant vibe. I ordered the Morey's Breakfast Plate and it was fantastic. I chose the Portuguese Sausage and Pancakes, alongside scrambled eggs, hash browns, and mix fruit—a perfectly balanced and delicious meal! My Island Iced Tea was also incredibly refreshing. Everything was top-notch, and I'm already looking forward to visiting again to try more menu items. Highly recommend this spot!

Great breakfast place!! Came here two days in a row for brunch and got the Morey's Breakfast Plate both times. Really good value, was satisfied until dinner for a reasonable price! The pancakes and eggs especially were delicious. Also had cute mugs/other merch for sale, makes a great souvenir.

An awesome gem on the island to have a solid meal with a very friendly, island vibe. The food is good and the service is even better. This place is especially for those with a sweet tooth. Excellent pancakes and French toast!

Strolled past this establishment a few times during different stays in Waikiki and have not hit the open hours until this past week. Stopped in for a weekday brunch/lunch. Service was friendly. They were also clear about no substitutions. (I asked for no acai but keeping the fruit cup)The vibe is beachy pastels and the decor is playful and cute. For those watching their sugar intake the menu was particularly challenging. The shrimp was plump and flavorful for both the eggs benedict and Maki special. The hollandaise sauce could have been more flavorful. The hash brown potatoes looked anemic. Rice to ingredient ratio in the fried rice was high, leaving me scavenging through rice to find the spinach/mushroom/onion bits. Also just a pet peeve of mine is serving uncleaned shrimp (waste line still there in spite of scoring through the shell). Overall cute open air place for brunch, but would not come back to eat here.
