About
Analog Sound Meets Kaka'ako Nights
Stepping into Bside feels like walking into a curated private collection of sound and spirits. Located in the heart of Honolulu’s vibrant Kaka'ako district, this intimate listening bar centers its entire identity around a high-end analog sound system. You won't find televisions blaring sports here; instead, the room is filled with the warm, crackling richness of vinyl records spanning jazz, funk, and global soul.
The Sonic Atmosphere
The space is intentionally compact, creating a communal energy where the music dictates the pace of the evening. The interior design leans into a clean, minimalist aesthetic, allowing the focus to remain strictly on the quality of the playback and the craftsmanship of the cocktail menu. It is an ideal spot for audiophiles or those looking for a low-profile evening where conversation flows as smoothly as the Japanese-style highballs.
Beyond the Records
The drink program is a masterclass in precision. The bartenders pay homage to the Japanese 'kissaten' tradition, emphasizing clarity, specific ice-cutting techniques, and balanced proportions. Whether you are ordering a meticulously stirred cocktail or a crisp beer, each glass is handled with the same reverence the staff shows the record needles. Be prepared for a cozy, tight-knit experience—the seating is limited and fills up quickly as the sun sets over the island, making it wise to arrive early if you want to secure a spot near the speakers. It is a rare urban oasis where the soundtrack is just as important as the service, offering a genuine auditory retreat from the busy streets outside.

Went for a graduation party. Food was catered, but the service and atmosphere was good. Very spacious.

Been to two private events here and absolutely love the space. Large stage/ seating area, nice bathroom, and the bar is fast.

We attended an event where the staff was initially very pleasant. However, we encountered an issue that was handled poorly. In the women’s restroom, we came across a line of unopened BuzzBallz. As we were leaving, an employee entered, referenced the BuzzBallz, and we immediately handed them over. Despite our cooperation and our explanation that the items were not ours and that we had no bags or belongings capable of carrying them, we were removed from the venue without any meaningful Leaving the situation unresolved. We did not create a scene, and staff had observed us enter without bags;, we had even tipped generously earlier in the evening. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and could have been handled far more responsibly.
