Slow-Smoked Perfection in Honolulu
Walking into Bozie Jones Bar B Q, the first thing that hits you is the deep, woodsy aroma of hickory smoke hanging in the air—a scent that has become a staple of the local Honolulu barbecue scene. This is not a place for white tablecloths; it is a straightforward, no-nonsense shack where the primary focus remains entirely on the pit.
The Pitmaster’s Craft
The menu highlights traditional, slow-cooked meats that fall away from the bone with the slightest nudge. The brisket is the clear standout, featuring that coveted, dark-crusted bark and a tender, melt-in-your-mouth interior that speaks to hours of careful temperature management. Pair it with their house-made sauce, which balances sweetness with a sharp, vinegar-based tang that cuts through the richness of the pork.
A Local Favorite
The atmosphere is bustling and casual, making it the perfect pit stop for locals grabbing a hearty lunch after a day on the water or visitors hunting for authentic, island-style smokehouse flavor. You will often hear the hum of conversation competing with the sounds of the kitchen staff preparing the next batch of ribs. While the parking can be a bit of a tight squeeze during the mid-day rush, the reward is well worth the effort of navigating the lot.
Whether you are looking for a quick plate to-go or a heavy, satisfying meal to share, this neighborhood spot keeps the traditions of low-and-slow cooking alive in the heart of the city.

I love all dishes, but if I have to choose, the brisket ! Thinking of the tender beef with the keawe wood flavor and the original sauce makes me drool! The side baked beans are so yummy! Bozie and his service dog Athena are extremely friendly! It is the dark side of our history but listening of the story of how his BBQ came from is interesting.

A barbeque shack next to McDonalds King st. It's literally finger licking good. I ordered the chicken and rib tip plate and I was so sad when it was gone. He cooks everything on site and it really did taste like back home.

The bbq ribs and chicken were really good; juicy with a light smoked flavor and the sauce was delicious as well. The baked beans were just right.

GPS led me to Kewalo Basin. This food truck is actually on Atkinson St at the traffic light across from Ala Moana Shopping Center. Enough room for one car to pull in unless you park at Ala Moana and walk over. This chicken was very smokey. Loved that. The beans tasted delicious. I was looking for a scoop of southern potato salad. This mans Tennessee BBQ sauce was delicious. Only $13 for my plate today. Would've paid more, was worth more. But thank you. And Aloha

Superb Tennessee BBQ. The truck moved to a new location though. It is now right next to Zucchi and YMCA. Do try this BBQ if you are around!

On my first visit, I was lucky to grab the last pack of rib tips before closing, and they were delicious! However, on my second visit, I tried the brisket and was disappointed. It was overly fatty and mushy to the point of being inedible for me. I’d recommend using a higher-quality cut for the brisket because paying $15 for mostly fat didn’t sit right with me.

This guy really has it going on! We had the ribs and sampled his brisket. There are 2 things that make great BBQ....the sauce/ glaze and the quality of the meat. You will not be disappointed here ...both are fantastic. The sauce is tangy, not to sweet..not that over sweet molasses that others do. The brisket is madly smoked, has a crunchy crust with melt in your mouth center. Incredibly delicious and just goes to show that food truck food is king. The service is with a smile and fast...you can tell he loves what he is serving you. You won't find better value anywhere in Honolulu

We travelled to Waikiki 7 days ago and have fell in love with the place. The people are great and Sean at Bozie Jones was one of the most friendly people we met. His bbq was the best value we had all week and we will be going back for our last dinner tomorrow. Thanks Sean!
