Ocean-to-Table Flavors in Kaka’ako
Stepping into Blue Seafood Company feels like a genuine extension of the Pacific itself. Located in the heart of Honolulu’s vibrant Kaka’ako district, this spot sidesteps the typical tourist traps in favor of a sleek, industrial-chic aesthetic that mirrors the city's modern evolution. The air carries a faint, sharp scent of sea salt and charred citrus, signaling a kitchen that respects its ingredients rather than masking them.
The Catch of the Day
The menu is defined by the rhythm of the local fishing boats. You won't find generic imports here; instead, the chefs focus on high-quality Hawaiian Opah, Monchong, and Kona Kampachi. A signature experience involves their preparations of fresh-caught Ahi, served with a nuanced balance of local ginger and soy-based glazes that highlight the fish’s natural buttery texture. It is the kind of place where the kitchen staff knows exactly which pier the morning haul came from.
Why Locals Choose This Coastal Escape
This is the ideal venue for those looking to avoid the crowded Waikiki strip. The atmosphere is energetic and loud, filled with the clinking of glasses and the hum of conversation from nearby creative studios. While the space is undeniably stylish, be prepared for a slightly frantic parking situation in the immediate Kaka’ako area—it’s a small price to pay for what is arguably some of the freshest seafood in urban Oahu. Whether you are grabbing a quick, high-end lunch after touring the local street art or settling in for a long dinner, the attention to quality makes it a staple for anyone who prioritizes substance over flash.

I had a great time here and our food was delicious! My favorite was the little fried fish and my wife's was the red one. We had the bigger fish too and everything was cooked very well. Thanks!

This place is an absolute must when you’re in Chinatown. The owner was wonderful! We came back twice during our week-long trip, and on our second visit we even ordered to go. My mom is a very picky eater, but she loved how fresh and flavorful everything was. They partner with the seafood market downstairs, so you can either pick your own fish there or choose from their daily menu. You can have it steamed or fried — just ask for their recommendations. Everything we tried was excellent!

Blue Seafood Company is hands down one of my new favorite spots. They always have so many fresh fish selections, and I love that you can pick what you want and enjoy it cooked the same day, right at the table. The quality and freshness really stands out, and it makes the whole experience special. The staff is friendly and makes you feel right at home too. Definitely recommend checking them out!
