About
A Slice of Tradition in Kaimuki
Stepping into Bibas feels like dropping into a well-loved neighborhood secret tucked away in the vibrant Kaimuki district. This isn't your polished, white-tablecloth establishment; it is a straightforward, no-nonsense eatery where the focus remains squarely on hearty portions and authentic Mediterranean influence. You’ll be greeted by the unmistakable aroma of garlic and roasting herbs the moment you push past the door, a sensory promise of the comfort food waiting inside.
The Culinary Focus
Bibas has built a local following by mastering the classics. The menu is celebrated for its rich, heavy-handed approach to Greek and Italian staples. Whether you are craving a plate of gyro meat served with generous dollops of tzatziki or a steaming tray of baked lasagna, the kitchen prioritizes flavor over flash. It’s the kind of cooking that feels personal, clearly crafted by people who understand that sometimes you just need a plate of pasta to make a long Honolulu work week feel manageable.
Navigating the Experience
The atmosphere is bustling and casual, making it an excellent choice for a low-pressure dinner with friends or a quick bite after running errands around town. Note that because this spot is a local favorite, the parking situation can get a little tight during peak evening hours—it’s worth circling the block or finding a nearby spot early. Inside, you’ll find the sound of clinking silverware and lively conversation, creating a communal buzz that makes you feel like a regular even if it's your first time visiting. It is a functional, authentic space designed for those who value a substantial meal over fancy presentation.

Eat here all the time. Love their salmon dinner. Excellent teriyaki honey sauce. Cooked perfectly. Goes great with their rice. Really good Caesar salad too. Nice location. Good service too. Prices have gone up over the years Came back again and had short ribs, Caesar salad and salmon. All was good. Service was good. Restaurant was busy. Had lunch here one day. Not a very health conscious menu. I had the fish tacos and I did not like them.

Can't beat the price and the service! I had the steak and lobster and for around $50, you can't do better in downtown Waikiki. The wine selection was nice and of great value. Appreciate that everything food and drink wise is in the right price zone. Steak and lobster was delicious. Only improvement could be the mashed potatoes, or offer a baked potato? Thank you! Will return! 8/10

Restaurant located in Hale Koa. They don’t make reservations for parties less than 8 people. It can get busy for dinner and upon closing so try to show up early or be ready to wait. You can also order take out and eat in your room. Service is great and friendly. My dad got the steak salad, I got their macadamia nut crusted red snapper, and my mom got the salmon. My dad got some monkey coconut alcohol smoothie which was tasty. You can probably get your parking validated, the AC is pretty strong and people get cold inside.

Fairly resonable prices. Nothing special about pasta dishes but the salads are very good, fresh, and great dressings. Staffs were somewhat friendly except one of the hostesses, older lady was kinda rude. Beautiful location.

Food was exceptional! As an extended family, we ordered from each section of the menu and everyone was happy with what they ordered. The staff was very considerate, rushing the kids orders because they were very hungry. By Hawaiian standards, very reasonable prices and we ate here multiple times. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time for larger groups!!

Beautiful outdoor seating, service is always great, and they have the BEST Lychee Nut Martinis! 😋😁 We loved their macadamia nut crusted red snapper on mango sauce - so good!

Nice place, good food and service. I was really glad they took out the kids first. I don’t love the policy where your group has to be 100% there before they will see you. I know why they have it, but this is a vacation spot and they have to know that multiple families with big groups are not always gonna be in the same place at the same time and sometimes things happen. There is a bar right there so I guess if that happens to you grab a drink, but would be nice to be seated.

Overall, the food was just average. Some dishes, like the jambalaya, were served in surprisingly small portions. We also ordered the steak salad, which didn’t taste like a true filet mignon. It came already sliced and was overcooked, quite bland and lacking any flavor. The other two dishes we ordered, the burger and half chicken were okay and came in very decent portions. Overall we left feeling unimpressed. We’d likely choose to dine elsewhere next time.

We missed lunch by 5 minutes, but it worked out just fine. They have happy hour from 1400-1630. The guava BBQ pork riblets were so tender and fell off the bone. The garlic fries were crispy and yummy. We enjoyed eating on the patio. The breeze was light and our mini lunch was perfect.
