About
A Local Brew Haven in Puck’s Alley
Tucked away from the high-traffic tourist corridors of Honolulu, Beer Lab HI’s Puck’s Alley taproom serves as a functional, no-frills laboratory for hop lovers. The space prioritizes the glass over the décor; expect industrial finishes and a communal atmosphere where the primary sound is the crisp snap of a fresh pour meeting a chilled pint. It is a destination for those who prefer their beer straight from the source, crafted with a commitment to experimental batch brewing that keeps the tap list in constant flux.
Science in the Glass
The magic here happens in the small-batch rotations. Whether it’s a hazy IPA with aggressive dry-hopping or a clean, crisp lager that cuts through the tropical humidity, the menu reflects the current obsession of their brew team. You won’t find mass-produced macro-brews here. Instead, patrons are treated to rotating selections that often feature locally sourced ingredients, reflecting the distinct flavor profile of Oahu-made craft beer. The scent of malt and yeast often hangs faintly in the air, a sign of the production-focused nature of the space.
Practical Details for Your Visit
Because the taproom is situated in a high-demand urban pocket of Honolulu, parking can be a bit of a localized challenge—plan to circle the lot or scout for street spots nearby if you’re driving. The setting is ideal for after-work gatherings, casual date nights where the conversation is the focus, or for dedicated enthusiasts looking to sample a flight of experimental suds before heading out to dinner. The atmosphere remains consistently low-key and unpretentious, catering to a crowd that values a well-crafted stout over bells and whistles.

Good beer selection, highly recommend the strawberry beer, tart but not sour. They have a selection of cream sodas and cocktails too. Service is very good, bar type food available. There is a private room off to the side plus a small t-shirt shop.

The beer lab is amazing. Their beer is great and the wings are some of the best I've had. Idk how they get it so crispy on the outside while being so moist on the inside. Falls right off the bone. And their sauce is supreme. Reasonably priced (for Honolulu) as well. 10/10

Great staff, and nice fresh take at the new spot. I’m glad that they never left the University area. The addition of a food menu is certainly a plus, but what happened to their signature popcorn? Bring back the popcorn!

It’s nice that Beer Lab was able to stay in the area, even though parking is less convenient at this new spot. The interior space is nicer. Cool food menu and same great selection of beers. Standouts were the Double Flip POG IPA and the Strawberry Sour Ranger. As always, service is outstanding. No idea where they find these guys.
