BBQ Town Drive Inn
About
A Slice of Old-School Honolulu
Walking into BBQ Town Drive Inn feels like stepping back into a classic era of island dining. This Honolulu haunt isn't interested in white tablecloths or modern aesthetics; it focuses entirely on the legacy of the Hawaiian plate lunch. The air is thick with the savory, charcoal-tinged aroma of marinated meats being fired up, a scent that signals comfort to anyone familiar with the local food scene.
The Drive-Inn Experience
The menu remains a straightforward ode to comfort food, anchored by their legendary BBQ chicken and hearty beef plates. Expect generous portions of two-scoop rice and creamy macaroni salad—the essential sidekicks that define the local culinary identity. Because it functions as a true-to-form drive-inn, space is limited, and the acoustics can get quite lively during the lunch rush as office workers and local families crowd the counter.
Perfect For Local Flavor Seekers
If you are looking for an authentic, unpretentious meal away from the resort crowds, this is your spot. While the parking lot can be a bit of a tight squeeze, it’s a small price to pay for a menu that prioritizes tradition over trends. It’s the kind of place where you grab a styrofoam container, find a spot to sit, and enjoy a meal that defines the mid-day routine for many residents in the heart of Oahu.

This place has a small town Hawaiian plate lunch feel. The Counter help need to work on their English and Communication skills. But their plate lunch is good. N this sleepy mini mall. They not trying to be an L&L so that puts them ahead of L&L. I got the Mini lemon chicken their lemon sauce is not to sweet and the chicken is sooo crunchy and juicy. And their Mac Salad is a lot better than any L&L this is my 1st time here, I also got the regular Kalbi short ribs and guys are a solid player in my they plate lunch seen in Hawaii Kai area. They have solid choices. They so basic it’s ONO. No hurricane this and dynamo that. I should’ve got the mini lemon chicken with all rice. Next time I come I gonna try the spring roll and a bbq mix plate or the dteam fish? I came hungry and even the Mini is big for a mini. Tomorrow is lent so maybe fish tomorrow.

Still affordable. Still yummy. I appreciate BBQ Town for not jacking up its prices and keeping the food the same. My go to is the Teri Beef. Menu is big, so there are a lot of choices. Go here if you want to eat good tasting food. Don't come if you are a health nut lol. I've been coming here less because I'm trying to eat healthier, but a good burger every now and then hits the spot.

Very good mixed plate. The teriyaki steak 🥩 & chicken 🐓 were delicious & the Mac salad was the best I’ve had in O’ahu!

I have no idea how this place has four+ stars. We each had something different with the same result..ewwww. I do not recommend, not even for a late night, drunken snack.

Excellent experiences at BBQ town. They star of the show for us were the Teri beef burgers. Such an explosion of flavor in your mouth. Also pictured on another occasion was the short rib mini plate which as you can see is enough for at least one meal if not two. I called ahead for both our orders and picked up. The staff is super friendly. The prices are extremely reasonable. Definitely recommend visiting!

The sweetest, kindest people ! My go to is the Lemon Chicken sauce on the side! 2nd is Teri Beef. Oh an the fries extra crispy! Huge portions, quality food, value for what you pay! They take cash or card and don't forget to tip! Mahalo to the Owners of BBQ town for continuing to stay open and thrive for the community.

Now takes credit cards! Large portions, basic and tasty. Check out the daily special for a good deal. Affordable sandwich options. Note the BBQ chicken is not the red saucy variety but rather the local style, and that the lemon chicken is fried w a lemon sauce poured over it.
