About
Savor the Pacific at Bay Rock Cafe
Steps away from the iconic shoreline of Honolulu, Bay Rock Cafe offers an unpretentious escape for locals and visitors looking to pair their meal with a view. As you walk in, the sound of crashing waves often competes with the hum of the open-air kitchen, creating a rhythmic, salty soundtrack that defines the local dining experience.
Island-Inspired Staples
The menu leans heavily into fresh, local ingredients, with the seared ahi tuna bowl acting as a consistent crowd-pleaser. You will find that the kitchen prioritizes simplicity, letting the natural quality of Hawaii-sourced fish shine without excessive garnishes. The atmosphere remains casual and breezy, making it an ideal pitstop if you are coming straight from the sand or heading out for an evening walk along the coast.
The Local Edge
While the open-air seating provides unmatched airflow, be prepared for the occasional gust of wind that might require you to hold onto your napkin. It is a true island-style spot—nothing too polished, just good, honest cooking served against the backdrop of the Pacific. Whether you are grabbing a quick lunch before exploring Waikiki or lingering over an iced coffee while watching the surfers, the cafe captures the laid-back rhythm of the city. Parking in this part of Honolulu can be a bit of a puzzle, so many regulars prefer to walk or bike to secure a spot without the stress.

Terrible service. The woman who was serving us was rude to us and in this video she is yelling at another employee. This is not how you enjoy a vacation with this attitude. Management please do something about her. Thank you.

Have to go “outside” Hanauma Bay in order to get to snack bar. Lady taking orders was exceptional. Selectional was basically kids fast food. Prices were not terrible. Chicken strips/fries, cheeseburger, grilled cheese were all made to order and came out hot and well packaged. Kids were happy to get hot food and not just snacks. Prepare to wait while they make your food. It can get busy.

A good selection of food made fresh. You do need to go all the way up and get a stamp if you want to go down to the beach again.
