About
Pacific Flavors at the Royal Hawaiian
Sitting right on the iconic sands of Waikiki, Azure offers an experience defined by the steady rhythm of crashing surf and the glow of tiki torches. The dining room, housed within the historic 'Pink Palace of the Pacific,' captures a sense of old-world Honolulu elegance that feels miles away from the modern high-rise bustle.
Fresh from the Auction
The menu centers on daily catches sourced directly from the Honolulu Fish Auction. Chef-driven plates highlight local favorites like Kona kampachi and opakapaka, prepared with a focus on clean, oceanic acidity and locally sourced produce. You’ll hear the clinking of crystal and low-frequency island jazz playing against the backdrop of the Pacific breeze. The scent of salt air and seared ginger is ever-present here.
A Note on the Atmosphere
This is the spot for milestone anniversaries or guests looking to lean into the classic glamour of Hawaii. Be aware that because the dining space is open-air and beachfront, the sound of the ocean can get quite vigorous during high tide—it’s a dramatic, albeit sometimes loud, companion to your meal. Parking can be a logistical puzzle given the hotel's tight valet setup, so consider arriving a few minutes early to enjoy a walk through the manicured gardens before settling into your seat. Whether you are splitting a whole roasted fish or enjoying a craft cocktail as the sun dips below the horizon, the focus remains entirely on the relationship between the sea and the plate.

We ordered the 4 course meal, and it did not disappoint. Despite several dietary restrictions, Kevin, our waiter, went above and beyond to accommodate us. He even made multiple trips to the kitchen to ensure our preferences were fully taken into account. The standout dish for me was the snapper, it was perfectly cooked with a crispy exterior, a delicious smoky flavor, and a wonderfully satisfying texture. Overall, the meal and service exceeded our expectations.

From the initial greeting by the weight set when we got there and our waiter Scott, service was just impeccable. We chose a four course dinner and truly enjoyed every one of our entrees. The food was magnificent. Anyone in the Waikiki area that is looking for an intimate dinner with a partner/significant other/husband/ wife, this is the place to go!

What a wonderful experience, popped in for a quick bite of late lunch. The service was impeccable, friendly, fast and welcoming. The food was to die for, a smaller menu which has something for everyone, but be careful the helpings are very generous! It's a busy place with good food that doesn't make you feel rushed. Here are pictures of the truffle fries and pineapple chicken wings. 10/10!

Azure hit the resturant triad for success. Ambiance is on. The resturant is ocean front on Waikiki Beach. Service has it going. Nestor was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The chef completes the triad with great food. Reserve a table today!

Our five-course tasting menu at Azure – The Royal Hawaiian was exceptional. We booked for 5:30pm to enjoy the Waikiki sunset, and our table right on the beach offered a perfect view. The tasting menu was impressive, with various options for each course and consistently high-level flavours and presentation. Our waiter, Nester, was outstanding—knowledgeable, detailed in his explanations, and genuinely personable, which added greatly to the experience. While the desserts we selected were a little underwhelming in flavour, they were beautifully presented, and other choices may have suited us better. Overall, an amazing dining experience in a stunning location.

From the moment we stepped into Azure, the ambience alone set the tone for a night to remember — the oceanfront setting, elegant table arrangements, and that gentle Waikiki breeze made it feel like paradise. 10/10 for atmosphere. We indulged in the five-course meal and every single dish felt carefully crafted and thoughtfully composed. Course 1 — Soup & Salad: The soup was warm and comforting, a lovely start that awakened the palate. The salad was fresh and vibrant — crisp greens and seasonal vegetables tossed with just the right vinaigrette, setting a perfect stage for the courses ahead. Course 2 — Kauaʻi Shrimp Poke & Scallop Tataki Ceviche: The Kauaʻi shrimp poke felt like the island itself on a plate — bright, briny sea asparagus, Maui sweet onion, and kukui nut gave it so much depth and character. The scallop tataki ceviche was elegant and delicate; the chili-yuzu emulsion added a subtle heat and acidity, balanced by daikon and a plantain chip that gave the dish a perfect textural pop. Course 3 — Risotto / Pasta: The lobster & cured-egg-yolk risotto was creamy, indulgent, and rich — the poblano pepper butter added a smoky warmth that complemented the lobster beautifully. The alternative mushroom risotto offered a deeper, earthy contrast, with its mushroom dashi and parmesan harmonizing flawlessly. The caramelle pasta filled with shrimp was luxurious and comforting, the creamy alo macho sauce coated each piece, while uni and ikura added marine richness that made each bite feel special. Course 4 — Main: Lamb & Lobster: We chose the lamb, and it was magnificent. The meat was tender and flavorful, elevated by the avocado-leaf chimichurri — a bright, herbal, slightly citrus-tinged sauce that felt balanced and refined. The romanesco mousseline and baby carrots rounded out the plate with elegance. The lobster alternative — with guava-macadamia nut sauce, green hollandaise and cassava — sounded divine too, and the thoughtfulness in offering both surf and turf shows Azure’s commitment to variety and excellence. Course 5 — Dessert: The dessert course was playful yet refined. The Waialua chocolate bar was a dream for anyone with a sweet tooth — rich chocolate crunch, velvety chocolate cake, and a light orange whipped cream that cut through the richness in the most satisfying way. The faux abalone dessert (haupia mousse, matcha, hojicha cake, sesame sand) was creative and unexpected — delicate, layered, and beautifully island-inspired. We ended the evening with coffee and tea — the perfect mellow finish after such an indulgent meal. Service was exceptional: attentive, polite, and knowledgeable. The staff made us feel welcomed and truly taken care of throughout the evening — from explanations of each course to the timing and flow — Azure delivered a full-on feast for all senses. If you’re looking for incredible cuisine, serene beachfront vibes, and an experience that lingers in memory, this is the place.

Absolutely incredible experience. Our waiter greeted us by name and explained the menu in detail to us. It is strictly prix-fixe right now, but the options they have available were mind blowing. The presentation of each course was stunning. I highly recommend getting the wine pairing for each course as well.
