A Waikiki Throwback

Stepping into Any Place Cocktail Lounge feels like pulling a curtain back on Old Honolulu. Located just off the main drag in Waikiki, this watering hole avoids the polished, high-priced veneer of the neighboring tourist hubs, opting instead for a gritty, authentic charm that keeps local residents coming back for more.

The Dive Bar Spirit

The atmosphere here is defined by low lighting, wood-paneled walls, and the distinct, hum-filled cadence of an older crowd sharing stories. You won't find craft syrups or complicated garnishes here. Instead, expect cold beer and stiff, no-nonsense pours served by staff who know the regulars by name. It is loud, unpretentious, and unapologetically classic.

Why You Should Visit

This is the spot for those looking to shed the resort vibe. It is perfectly suited for a nightcap after a long beach day or for anyone craving a truly local Honolulu experience. Be warned: the parking situation in this part of the island can be a challenge, so consider walking if you are staying nearby. The jukebox provides a steady soundtrack of classic hits that seem to echo the history of the lounge itself. It isn’t trying to impress anyone; it just offers a solid place to pull up a stool and settle in for the night.

Live music on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., so a dinner reservation is definitely required since it becomes completely packed. The food is excellent—I had the fried chicken, which was very delicious, and the steak was also really good. The steamed fish is very good as well. Portions here are very generous and easily shareable. There’s a special daily menu written on a board next to the bar, which I wish I had noticed before ordering from the paper menu because some of the items looked really good. There’s also a separate menu available Monday to Friday before 5 p.m. with their popular items at a few dollars off.

Best fried chicken (Obachan chicken) anywhere! It looks a little non-descriptive from the outside, like a converted bank or something, but is warm and inviting on the inside. All of the food is delicious and the servers are engaging, fun, accurate, and timely. It is definitely a come-as-you-are place to eat, like a comfortable, hometown place that is just really good, solid food.

This no frills local hangout is a favorite spot of mine for a casual nights out with family and/or friends. The food here is excellent and the beers are cold. They even have Orion on tap. They are know for their fried chicken which is easily top five on my list. My daughter loves the saimin and everything on the menu is a good choice…just depends what you’re in the mood for. Bring your darts as they have a few boards in the back. They have a small parking lot with free parking, or you can try the street parking or the lot across from the restaurant if it’s full. 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼

Breezed into this comfortable place. Air conditioned, retro-loungy, local beers, good bites. Spicy chicken bowl was delicious with a cold pint of Longboard. Anyplace is a recommended place.

8/2023 Despite post Covid challenges, so far, so good. They've persevered with consistency and Aloha. In the new McCully location, the food is as good as ever. I like the much roomier space for them to spread even more. Aloha. The prices are right, they've added a good happy hour, and yes, the food still onolicious. We just had a reunion here, and so did another group. Parking can be challenging when busy, but so are all places that are busy. There's a pay parking lot across the street that's convenient. They've recently added entertainment as well on certain nights. May be my new go-to. 😉🤙✌️ 9/2023 They've got periodic entertainment, too! 2 Big Hawaiians! 😉💪🤙✌️

One of the best old school neighborhood bar/food places you are going to find. Chili water as a side compliment and a bucket of ice with awesome service and delicious food.

Update - Anyplace is still my go to for getting together with friends in Moiliili. Sensei liked the Kalbi, fried rice and Chinese chicken salad. Got to try pork chop 👍🏼, fried chicken gizzard, and a few other things on the menu with a large group. Spam and egg sandwich, Kalbi and fried rice are still my go to choices but the pork chop was also delicious. Went well with pitchers of Longboard and UH hoops on TV 🤙🏼. Local staff is good too. Great pupus - local style spam and egg sandwich, kalbi, fried rice. Lot of folks like to sing karaoke. not my thing but it's a good time. maybe best bar food in America.

A chill sports bar with Hawaiian bar food for your next pau hana. The place is no frills, casual place to get together with friends and watch the game. They also show UH games if they're on. I liked the vibe so I came two times in one week. If you don't drink, my favorite is the virgin strawberry margarita with li hing powder on the rim of the glass, paired with fish tofu patties. I had the poke but it's not my favorite. The fish and chips were super generous. The downside is the extremely limited parking. The free parking lot could accommodate probably less than 10 cars and the rest would need to find street parking (which is also hard since it's close-ish to town by a busy road)

Great food, good atmosphere, and good drinks! The best thing about this place is the 1$ oysters they serve every Wednesday. The oysters are huge, deshelled, and can be paired with tartar sauce or ponzu sauce. This is literally the only reason I come here is for these amazingly priced oysters. They run out fast so it’s best to get there early 😋.
