A Fresh Perspective on Vietnamese Street Food

Tucked away in the vibrant culinary landscape of Honolulu, An Di Dzo brings a contemporary edge to traditional Vietnamese comfort food. The space feels intentionally curated for those who prefer an energetic, fast-casual environment over white-tablecloth formality. You will likely notice the rhythmic clatter of woks and the bright, herbal aroma of Thai basil and cilantro hitting the air the moment you walk through the doors.

What to Expect on Your Plate

The menu centers on bold, accessible flavors. Diners frequently gravitate toward their elevated take on classic banh mi and refreshing vermicelli bowls, which highlight crisp, seasonal produce sourced from local Hawaiian growers. The broth for their signature pho dishes is simmered for hours, resulting in a depth of flavor that manages to balance savory richness with the delicate aromatic lift of star anise and charred ginger.

The Local Vibe

An Di Dzo thrives on a bustling, friendly atmosphere that feels right at home in the heart of Honolulu. It is an ideal spot for a quick lunch break or a casual evening bite with friends. Just a heads up: the popularity of their lunch rush means seating can fill up quickly, and street parking in this particular pocket of the city requires a bit of patience, so factor in a few extra minutes to find a spot. Whether you are looking for a quick caffeine fix with a Vietnamese iced coffee or a satisfying noodle bowl to fuel your afternoon, this spot delivers consistent quality without the pretension.

I found this restaurant by chance. I was taking my son to a tuxedo fitting at Men's Warehouse right next door when I noticed this gem. The food here has great flavor and definitely does not feel like something that was rushed, but actually made with care for the presentation and flavor. The atmosphere was relaxed and clean. We ordered the regular pho, Bun Bo Hue, and steamed lemongrass clams (thai chili). Again, great flavor, fresh garnished and would definitely recommend for anyone in the mood for some great Vietnamese cuisine!

On Valentine's Day, my husband and I were looking for the best place to have a delicious dinner. We tried Istanbul, but the line was too long. Merriman's was also packed. So, we decided to walk around the building by the movie theater. As we reached the front, before the movie entrance, we spotted an amazing place. It wasn't crowded, and the atmosphere looked very calm, with raw cement, wood, and a beautiful bar area. Peeking at the food through the window, we were surprised by how delicious it looked and how reasonable the prices were for such a nice place in the Ward area. We took a chance and went inside, and let me tell you, it was some of the best pho we've had in a while! My husband ordered the Beef Marrow, and I got the chicken pho mini because I wasn't very hungry. Surprisingly, even the mini size was quite generous. We also ordered the wagyu and spring rolls, which were perfectly presented—already cut and served with mint leaves, which we usually have to tear ourselves at other restaurants. This place is so nice; it reminds us of a Mediterranean-style interior—simple yet classy—with a relaxing music selection. We were very surprised that it wasn't more crowded; you'd expect a line of people waiting outside! It's definitely one of our favorite spots now, and we will be back again! Thanks to the really cool crew: Julia, Jacob, the mom & pops, and everyone working in the back! It's a must-try!

It is the most authentic and best Vietnamese food in Hawaii, especially true to the flavors of Northern Vietnam. Everything is delicious. The Bun Bo Hue is a bit spicy, but the other noodle dishes have a rich, well balanced flavor and are excellent. If you add the black sauce, the taste shifts to a Southern Vietnamese style, which I also highly recommend. A perfect five star experience with no complaints.
