About
A Taste of Mexico in the Heart of Honolulu
Stepping into Aloha Tortilla Factory & Cafe feels like wandering into a sun-drenched kitchen in Mexico, despite the tropical breeze waiting outside the door. This spot has carved out a dedicated following by focusing on the foundation of any great taco: the tortilla. The rhythmic sound of the press and the scent of toasted corn flour greet you the moment you arrive, signaling that everything here is made from scratch on-site.
The Freshness Factor
This isn't your average quick-stop taco shop. The kitchen treats nixtamalized corn with reverence, resulting in tortillas that have a distinct, earthy chew impossible to find in store-bought varieties. Whether you are grabbing a quick lunch in Kalihi or looking for fresh masa to take home for your own kitchen experiments, the flavor profile remains consistently high. Their menu leans into traditional street-style preparations, letting the quality of the warm, pliable corn shells do the heavy lifting.
What to Expect
The space is functional and unpretentious, designed for those who care more about their carnitas than fancy decor. It is a popular hub for locals grabbing a hearty meal during the workday, so expect a lively, bustling energy during the noon rush. If you find the parking a bit tight in the surrounding industrial lots, just know that the payoff—a stack of fresh-off-the-griddle tortillas—is worth the shuffle. Come hungry, grab a pile of salsa, and enjoy a genuine, uncomplicated meal that prioritizes craft over convenience.

Service took 45 Min only cause there’s one worker there and one cashier. But duuuuuudeeeeee that was the best hidden gem taco ever!! I spent around $60 I got the quesadillas and 2 sides. Burrito and 2 sides. Chips and guacamole. & you can choose chicken . Pork or chorizo or mixed. Then for the sides you can pick salad, chips, or mixed fruit I think. But anyways, it was well worth the wait! I was so full. All the plates comes with green spicy sauce & salsa. The salad was in a cup And balsamic vinegar comes with it. Then the guac dip and chips they give you 2 & it’s amazing they had tomato inside Of it. I got 5 tacos no sides too chicken meat. You can choose to have cilantro avocado and onion on top. This is truly a hidden gem inside of the HPU campus across the trident store. They also have tables with umbrellas

I ordered Mexican coffee and Nachos Grande. Both were not good. The Mexican coffee has a cinnamon stick in it but other than that it didn't taste like anything. I asked for an extra cup of ice and it never came. The Nachos were bad. Really super salty tortilla chips. Just a very few toppings. Tiny amount of salsa, avocado, beans. Just processed cheese on top. The whole thing was barely edible. I'm just being honest. Most of my reviews are good but if a place is bad, you need to be honest.

I ran across a recent review of this place and it seemed too good to be true, authentic taste tacos in Honolulu. Most of the reviews added it was a bit slow and yes it was, but it was definetly worth the 25 minute wait. Tip, when ordering drinks take it when you pay so you may enjoy the wait for an unbelievably fresh and tasty taco. I had the 3 taco plate with salad and dessert. I had carne asada, pork, and a portobello mushroom set. Each one was so good, i thought i could eat 2 plates but the three were very good. I've found my favorite taco place.
