About
A Neighborhood Staple in Manoa Valley
Tucked away near the University of Hawaii campus, Aloha Sushi has become a go-to spot for those seeking quick, reliable Japanese comfort food in the heart of Manoa. This isn't a high-concept dining room; it is a straightforward, no-frills kitchen that focuses on the essentials: seasoned rice, fresh fish, and consistent execution.
The Art of the Onigiri
Most regulars stop by specifically for their wide selection of hand-pressed musubi and onigiri. You will see students and local families alike grabbing a quick snack on their way to the hiking trails nearby. The spicy tuna and salmon varieties are the clear winners, wrapped in crisp nori that maintains its crunch until the moment you take a bite. The scent of seasoned rice vinegar hits you the second you walk through the door, signaling a kitchen that values traditional preparation methods.
Local Nuances
While the quality of the rolls is high, keep in mind that space is limited. This is primarily a grab-and-go destination rather than a spot for a lengthy sit-down dinner. Parking in this part of Honolulu can be notoriously tricky during peak lunch hours, so plan to swing by with a little extra patience if you are driving. Whether you are looking for a bento box to sustain you through a long day of classes or a platter for an impromptu picnic, Aloha Sushi serves as a cornerstone of the Manoa community.

What a pretty good place. I have been craving for a good poke bowl. And I believe I just found it!! The Crunch Don was amazing. Love the freshness and the flavor. I would for sure come back.

Average sushi spot in a local strip mall. Ordered several rolls and nigiri and my order came up quick. Not a whole lot of ambiance if you want to dine-in but the place was clean. I would go again but this isn't a place I would go out of my way to recommend. Party trays also available
