Aloha Sub Downtown Deli & Sandwiches
About
A Downtown Honolulu Lunch Ritual
Tucked away amidst the high-rises and government offices of Honolulu's bustling business district, Aloha Sub provides a much-needed break from the typical corporate lunch grind. This isn't a place for white-tablecloth service; it’s a straightforward, no-nonsense deli where the smell of freshly sliced meats and toasted sourdough hits you the moment the door swings open.
Island-Style Sandwiches Built for the Daily Hustle
The menu leans heavily into classic deli profiles but with a distinct local rhythm. Regulars consistently flock here for their signature hot subs, particularly the pastrami and the turkey-avocado combinations. The bread is handled with precision—toasted just enough to offer a satisfying crunch without tearing up the roof of your mouth. Watching the staff assemble sandwiches assembly-line style is part of the rhythm here; it is fast, efficient, and calibrated for the lunch crowd that only has thirty minutes to spare.
The Downtown Atmosphere
Expect a bit of a squeeze. During the noon hour, the line often snakes toward the entrance, and finding a seat can be a bit of a sport. The space feels industrial and utilitarian, characterized by the hum of cooling refrigerators and the chatter of office workers trading stories about their morning meetings. It is the perfect spot for those who value substance over spectacle. If you find yourself navigating the busy streets of downtown Honolulu and craving something hearty that doesn't feel like another chain meal, this deli delivers a reliable, honest bite that keeps the local workforce fueled.

I love this place and you know they are good when after years you still think about these sandwiches. You can see that even tho they have moved that they are still the same subs from the little town. Miss yall so much and love that the sandwiches are still showing the same love. Also the puppy still miss y'all too.

Best sub spot! We couldn’t stop talking about these sandwiches and had to visit a second time before our trip was over. We tried the Adam Sando, G-Land, and Hawaii 5-0. The owner is so friendly and passionate about his craft. These subs are a work of art!

Like everything else in Hawaii, overrated and over priced. Barely any meat on my sandwich. Mostly bread. Dry. I paid extra for avocado and they put on one slice, they left out some other veggies that I ordered. Just ok. Definitely not worth the price in my opinion.
