A Slice of Classic Honolulu

Stepping into Aloha Steak House feels like a transition into a quieter side of the Waikiki nightlife. While the city buzzes just outside, the dining room offers a grounded, mid-century approach to the classic steakhouse experience. It is the kind of place where the scent of charred ribeye and garlic butter greets you the moment you cross the threshold, cutting through the humid island air.

Menu Staples and Culinary Style

The kitchen leans heavily into traditional preparation, focusing on thick, well-marbled cuts of beef. The signature prime rib is a recurring highlight, slow-roasted to maintain a tender, blushing center that pairs perfectly with a side of horseradish cream. If you are dining with a group, the surf-and-turf options provide a reliable local spin, often featuring fresh, local catch alongside the signature steaks. It isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel, but it delivers on the promise of a substantial, satisfying meal.

The Room and The Crowd

The space is built for long conversations, characterized by dark woods and dim, amber-hued lighting that makes it a top choice for couples or groups looking for a reprieve from the tourist-heavy boardwalks. A small note for those navigating the area: the evening bustle can sometimes make the nearby sidewalk traffic feel a bit cramped, and the acoustics inside can get lively when the restaurant hits capacity. Despite the occasional hum of a busy night, the service remains attentive and efficient. Whether you are finishing a long day on the beach or celebrating a milestone, this Honolulu staple offers a straightforward, no-nonsense approach to island-style dining.

I went for my 34th birthday it was so good I had the lamb chops and honestly it was a great portion of food. The only real hick up is the beverages they offer soda wise are not branded like Coca Cola or Pepsi. It’s their own brand and it throws you off. But it’s really good I had a great experience

We visited on April 29, 2026, to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and we truly couldn’t have chosen a better restaurant for such a special evening. From the moment we made our reservation over the phone, the staff was warm, welcoming, and professional. After arriving, every part of our experience exceeded our expectations. The steak was cooked perfectly, the salad was incredibly fresh with delicious dressing, and the seafood was fresh and seasoned beautifully. The timing of each course was also impeccable. What made our evening even more memorable was our server, Kula. Kula consistently checked on us with genuine care and made us feel truly welcomed throughout the night. When Kula asked if we were celebrating something special and we mentioned our wedding anniversary, we were touched by a wonderful surprise—a beautiful dessert plate with “Happy Anniversary” written so elegantly. Kula’s outstanding hospitality, attention to detail, and genuine kindness turned our dinner into an unforgettable memory. Kula is truly an exceptional server and a great asset to this restaurant. We are sincerely grateful to Kula and the entire team for making our anniversary so special. We will absolutely come back the next time we visit Waikiki.

Amaya was amazing and explained the menu well for my guests visiting for the first time. The arugula burrata salad is one of my favorite go to's. The tomahawk is their specialty and I can see why. It was perfectly cooked.

We ordered a wagyu dinner for two. It included a wedge salad, stuffed portabella, the wagyu steak, asparagus, and a twice baked potato. Everything was delicious, but the steak and mushroom were definitely the highlight for us! I would also recommend the pina colada, it was one of the best I've ever had. The service was exceptional, our waiter was friendly and professional.

Had a great experience at Aloha Steakhouse. The steak was cooked exactly right with a solid sear and came out hot on the cast iron. We had the tomahawk but also saw a few others get excellent steaks. The asparagus and Caesar salad were both on point—and the garlic shrimp was awesome, light and crispy without being greasy. What stood out most was the service— our server Kula was awesome. Attentive, well-timed, and genuinely made the night better. Overall, a really excellent spot with excellent food and awesome service. I would highly recommend.

This time in Honolulu, we went to eat the American-style bone-in steak I'd been craving. Since it's in the heart of Waikiki, we passed by the restaurant several times while wandering around. At first view, it seemed like there were only stairs in front of the place. But on my second pass, I noticed a wheelchair lift. It looked big enough for two people, including an attendant. So I use rollator usual, its great help for me. Knowing this lift was available put my mind at ease, so dinner on the second day was decided here as planned. We arrived around 7:30 pm without a reservation and were told we couldn't be seated until after 8:15 pm, so we waited. It seemed they'd use the lift. As the time approached, two lovely women, busy with service, came outside to check on us waiting. They mentioned the lift operator/security guard wasn't available yet, joking that if it came to worst, they'd lift us themselves. They explored options like using the parking lot ramp or entering through the building's back entrance. Ultimately, the security guard returned, and we were safely lifted into the waiting area in front of the restaurant by our reservation time. The steak itself was incredibly satisfying in both quantity and quality. We ordered the Bone-in Paniolo Ribeye 24 ounces (approx. 680g) for $115, cooked medium-rare, and shared Mashed Potatoes for $12. Plus, a beer each. While sipping our beers and waiting, the perfectly cooked steak arrived. A young guy who resembled an Aussie friend of mine skillfully carved it up for us. The doneness was perfect, and after thoroughly enjoying the meat, we even sucked on the bones (lol). The female server who took our order, the young guy who carved and served the bone-in meat, the very charming ladies who seriously thought about how to get us smoothly into the restaurant, and above all, the security guard who operated the lift – not to mention the staff who cooked the thick, juicy bone-in chicken and mashed potatoes, the restaurant's atmosphere, and the friendly customers – all made for a very satisfying dinner. Thank you all for the wonderful time and meal. I'd love to visit again if I get the chance. THX!

This was not the restaurant experience we expected for the cost and menu. We went to celebrate our anniversary and expected an upscale steakhouse dining experience, but were disappointed. My husband compared it to a tourist version of a Sizzler that seemed to be aimed mostly giving asian tourists a "steakhouse" experience while on vacation. The food was okay but didnt taste like it was seasoned at all. For example the mashed potatoes were literally just mashed potato, they didnt seem to be made with any butter or milk or seasoning. The steaks were good cuts of meat but were bland. The ambiance and atmosphere were contrived. Alexis, our server was pretty good. She didnt take any opportunity to upset any add-ons. Had she asked i would have added on blue cheese. We also had the wedge salad and mac-n-cheese. They were okay but not stellar.
