Aloha Plate Food Truck
About
A Taste of Local Island Flavor
Parked amidst the vibrant streets of Honolulu, Aloha Plate Food Truck captures the essence of Hawaii’s casual culinary scene. You won't find white tablecloths here; instead, you get the authentic smell of smoky barbecue mingling with the humid salt air of the Pacific. This is the spot for anyone craving a genuine plate lunch without the fuss of a traditional sit-down establishment.
What to Expect on Your Plate
The menu leans heavily into island favorites. The signature Kalua pork is slow-cooked until it practically melts, offering a salty, savory depth that pairs perfectly with two scoops of sticky white rice and a side of creamy macaroni salad. It is hearty, filling, and exactly what you want after a long morning surfing or trekking through the Ko'olau Range. If you arrive during the peak lunch hour, expect a small line of locals leaning against the truck, chatting over the sound of sizzling grills and island music playing from the window.
Pro-Tips for the Hungry Traveler
While the food is top-tier, navigating the parking situation in this part of Honolulu can be a bit of a dance. Bring patience and perhaps a handheld fan for those sunny afternoons. Whether you are a resident looking for a quick bite or a visitor wanting to skip the tourist traps, this food truck provides a no-nonsense, high-flavor experience. Grab your box to-go, find a nearby seawall or park bench, and enjoy a meal that defines the local palate.

Not just waste of money but also not a very trustworthy source of ready made meals. I bought 10 meals worth and had to throw away 6 of them. Tasteless beef stew with the vegetables cooked separately and thrown in together at the last moment with UNDERCOOKED hard potatoes, soggy enchiladas with melted cheese floating in some kind of liquidy sauce, tasteless barbecued chicken with a side of supposedly mashed ulu but instead with something thin and runny that tasted like instant mashed potatoes (gross!). I made mashed ulu many times and know how it’s supposed to taste and look - nothing like what I received from Aina Meals. On the top of everything and paying a hefty delivery fee, the drivers clearly communicate that they expect a tip. Aina Meals cooks clearly don’t know how to cook, how to spice food and apparently lie about their ingredients. Disappointing at best.
