A Kalihi Staple for Serious Poke Lovers

If you find yourself navigating the industrial grit of Kalihi, follow the trail of locals clutching white takeout containers. Alicia’s Market isn’t about white tablecloths or mood lighting; it is a straightforward, no-nonsense deli that has mastered the art of the Hawaiian plate lunch and fresh-caught seafood. The air here carries the salty, savory scent of shoyu and roasted garlic, a signature mark of a kitchen that prioritizes flavor over flash.

Island Flavors, Zero Pretense

Founded by the Calpito family, this spot has built a reputation on high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. The star of the show is undeniably the poke. Whether you go for the classic Ahi or the spicy mayo varieties, the fish is consistently firm and seasoned with enough depth to stand alone. Beyond the seafood, the roast pork—succulent, salty, and satisfyingly fatty—remains a weekend favorite that often sells out before the lunch rush subsides. If you are a fan of traditional Filipino-inspired Hawaiian comfort food, the kalua pig and lau lau plates are non-negotiable staples.

Navigating the Kalihi Rush

Expect a functional, utilitarian space where the focus is entirely on the food. The counter moves quickly, but be prepared for a bit of a shuffle if you arrive during the peak lunch hour. While the parking situation in this corner of Honolulu can be tight, the tradeoff is access to some of the most authentic poke on the island. It is the ideal stop for a casual beach day haul or a hearty office lunch that actually tastes like it was made with care. Just grab your containers, find a shaded spot, and enjoy a meal that defines local Honolulu eating.

Hard to find places that aren't comercialized. Found this nice local food place and if you are looking for fresh fish in your Poke lifestyle, this is a great place to go. No seating only to go orders.

Must get the spicy ahi, roast pork and char siu, best we had all trip. The spicy ahi had a beautiful sweet and savoury with a hint of spice, stand out was the texture - felt like eating a plump ball of protein that wasn’t mushy with great fiber and give. What a great experience. The wasabi ahi was a bit mushy sadly. Roast pork had great crackling and was scored well. You could see the individual bubbles on the pork, meat was also tender and flavorful. The skin is a bit waxy though but still best we had. Char siu deserves a special shoutout, meat was cooked well, great bounce, not dry and hints of caramel at the ends. Horseradish cream sauce was so tasty and the mustard sauce went amazing with the roast pork too. Would come back

Ordered the roasted pork with their popular wasabi masago poke, and it was delicious. The pork was crispy and flavorful, good even without the dipping sauce. The wasabi ahi was firm, fresh, and balanced, with the wasabi enhancing without overpowering. This spot is now on my list for takeout when I am in the area. Staff were friendly and easy to chat with, and I appreciate businesses like this.

Used to frequent this place years ago when I worked on Mokauea Street before the fire and remodel which took years to reopen.... Coworker said he was going on a lunch run here so I put in my order🤙 Ordered the roast beef and ahi masago mixed poke bowl.... Prices went up and portions and quality went down 😓 Roast beef was mostly fat and grizzle and the poke was really sparce in the poke bowl. Before plates was much better quality of meat and volume....for me i was very dissapointed. 3 stars

Ngl...ive seen this place before, but never entered. Today, my coworker recommend this place for their delicious meat & poke bowl. I thought it was going to be another poke place so I wasn't thrilled to go... When visiting the place, it looked shabby with terrible parking. Regardless we circled the block, parked illegally (lol) and went into the restaurant. The restaurant had a simple layout. Order on the left, then walk to the other side to pay. No seating area, take out only. I got the meat & poke bowl (roast pork & sweet onion shoyu ahi poke over rice) paid and left. We drove 20 mins back to the office and when i tasted my food, surprisingly the roast pork was still very crispy and salty. It complimented my shoyu ahi poke and rice. I liked it very much though their wasn't as much sweet onion in my bowl as I thought. I've had some delicious poke serve simple and made into unique combinations. Of my top 5 poke places like foodland, off the hook and alii fish market. This place is easily on my top 5 favorite places for poke.

Whenever we're on Oahu, Alicia's Market is the first place we stop at during our stay. My husband and I have been here many times (>15 visits) and we love their turkey tails, poke, roast pork, and ribs. We always get their combination bowls and a few pounds of meat to enjoy later. If your planning on stopping by Costco, don't sleep on this place. It's on the way there and Alicia's fresh poke always hits the spot.

Came here to grab lunch with my family. Very good sign that locals were lining up. Overall very quick and prompt service. The combination of poke and roast pork was amazing flavor and texture wise. Would definitely come back. A little bit far away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist area but worth the trip. This is a grab and go place so don't expect you know a sit down experience. We took our lunch to the botanical gardens a little bit of a drive away and enjoyed it there
