Ahi Assassins Fish Co
About
The Source of Honolulu's Freshest Catch
Tucked away near the bustling industrial edge of the Moiliili district, Ahi Assassins Fish Co isn't your average poke counter. It is a no-frills, fish-first operation where the focus is entirely on the quality of the ahi. Founded by fishermen, the shop operates with a transparent philosophy: they know exactly who caught the fish, how it was handled, and precisely when it arrived on the cutting board.
A Raw and Direct Menu
When you walk in, the scent of sea salt and chilled ocean currents greets you immediately. You won't find a dizzying array of mass-produced toppings here. Instead, the menu highlights the pure texture of high-grade tuna, marinated in precise, house-made shoyu blends or served as 'the assassin'—a signature preparation that highlights the buttery, melt-in-your-mouth quality of the catch. The portions are generous, often served over a bed of warm, fluffy rice that provides a comforting contrast to the cold, pristine fish.
The Island Experience
This is a spot for serious seafood enthusiasts who value substance over aesthetic fluff. The space is tight, and you will likely find yourself standing at a side counter or eating from a takeout container on the tailgate of your truck. Parking can be a bit of a challenge in this corner of Honolulu, and the line often spills out onto the pavement during the lunch rush, but it is a small price to pay for what is arguably the freshest poke on the island. Whether you are a local picking up a pound of 'limu ahi' for a weekend gathering or a visitor wanting a genuine taste of Hawaii's hook-to-table culture, Ahi Assassins delivers an authentic experience that defines the local seafood scene.

Ordered online, they accepted payment, didn't deliver and they don't answer my calls, emails or text messages.

This is an amazing and interesting experience unlike any poke/sashimi dining experience we've had before. We placed our order online for last Friday. Josh was out fishing all day and didn't have much luck that day. It can be frustrating at times not hearing from them about the order, but they have a very small team and literally can't respond to your texts and calls while they are at sea. When you order fresh fish from boat to table, you have to be patient and ready for the possibility of not having the order that day. Josh had a great day the following Friday and texted me as soon as they got back. I saw them unloading the fish on Instagram Live, and what's really cool is later on we got to see Josh prepare the 100lb tuna into the ahi sashimi and poke in person. That was a whole experience in itself to understand where the food you eat comes from. Josh is also a really friendly and chill guy who's fun to hang out with. We learned a lot about the local culture and fishing life. We ordered 2 sashimi and poke platters and shared between 6 people (we were so full and still had extras). The lunatic poke sauce and the smoke dip were SO good. Definitely worth the wait.
