Ahi and Vegetable
About
A Local Favorite for Honolulu’s Freshest Catch
Tucked away near the bustling heart of downtown Honolulu, Ahi and Vegetable serves as a no-frills sanctuary for those who prioritize the quality of fish over elaborate dining room décor. This spot has gained a loyal following among locals who know exactly where to go when they want sashimi-grade fish that feels like it was pulled from the Pacific hours earlier.
The Art of the Poke Bowl
The menu centers on simplicity. You won't find twenty different sauces masking the flavor here. Instead, the focus remains on the texture and temperature of the ahi. Their signature bowls are straightforward: generous chunks of buttery, deep-red tuna tossed in just enough seasoning to enhance the natural salinity of the sea. If you have a group, picking up a few party platters is the standard move for a sunset beach gathering.
What to Expect When You Visit
Walking in, don't expect a formal host stand or white tablecloths; the space is utilitarian and efficient. It smells faintly of sea salt and chilled clean surfaces—the mark of a high-volume fish market operation. Be prepared for a bit of a scramble if you are driving, as street parking in this part of Honolulu can be a tight game of musical chairs during the lunch rush. It is the ideal place for the solo diner looking for a quick, nutrient-dense meal or anyone grabbing dinner on their way back from the surf. When you visit, keep an eye on the daily catch board; the special cuts often rotate based on what the local fleet brings in each morning. It is honest, efficient, and fundamentally focused on the raw beauty of Hawaiian seafood.

5 dollars for this mini minced ahi poke bowl! Amazing. This is the same price as some candy bars. I love this place. The portions are great, the food tastes amazing, and the pricing is super good. One of my favorite places to go!

Fresh tuna and salmon! It was super fresh and delicious! I enjoyed their sushi and it was so so affordable! It was such a great meal :) I would love to go back again next time when I visit Hawaii. I highly recommend this place if you love sushi. It was great and they have plenty of seats and it was a clean and nice food hall. ❤️

Didn’t give a 5 star review because as a tourist, this place was hard to find, it took many steps and a few stops to ask random people and workers for directions. It’s in a big shopping center that has two food courts. Once we finally found it, it was worth the wait. I’ve had plenty of fish in my life and the the 100 % Hawaiian Ahi fish almost melted in my mouth. So fresh and tasty! So was the Salmon. When ever I go to this area again I would definitely try it again. 🔥🤤
