About
A Taste of Seoul in the Heart of Honolulu
Stepping into 808 Bunsik feels less like a restaurant visit and more like ducking into a high-energy snack shop in Myeong-dong. The air inside is thick with the savory, slightly sweet scent of gochujang and the satisfying sizzle of frying oil. It is a compact, no-frills spot that prioritizes speed and bold flavors, making it the perfect pitstop if you are roaming around the Kaka'ako area or looking for a quick bite after exploring local boutiques.
Signature Bites and Casual Comfort
The menu leans heavily into the classics of Korean comfort food. Their Tteokbokki is the real deal—chewy rice cakes drenched in a spicy, umami-rich sauce that lingers just long enough to make you reach for a cool drink. Pair that with their mandu, which arrive golden-brown and piping hot with a crunch that resonates even over the bustling kitchen chatter. The kimbap is tightly rolled and stuffed with fresh, vibrant vegetables, offering a clean contrast to the deeper, richer flavors of their hot dishes.
Practical Details for the Hungry Traveler
Expect a lively, sometimes boisterous environment. The seating is efficient, designed for people who want to eat well rather than lounge for hours. Keep in mind that parking in this part of Honolulu can be a bit of a puzzle, so arrive with a little patience or plan to walk a few blocks. It is a local favorite for a reason; you go here when you want honest, unpretentious Korean soul food served without the wait times of a formal dining room.

As a Korean-American who has had Korean Fried Chicken in Korea and the US, from Pelicana to Bonchon and beyond, this small family-owned joint is by far the BEST chicken I've had. This place is absolutely worth the journey to have, definitely recommend it! If you are local, give it a try, and if you're just visiting, do not miss your chance have what I would consider one of the best Korean Fried Chicken meals you can have ANYWHERE. A heads up if you are going to be visiting before 6/30/2021, the coupon book you can find around Honolulu has a 30% off coupon in it for this place. Hopefully they continue to offer this great deal, but even without it their prices are very fair and worth it!
