7gradi Gelato
About
A Slice of Italy in the Heart of Kaimuki
Stepping into 7gradi Gelato is like taking a quick flight to a sun-drenched piazza in Rome without leaving Honolulu. Tucked away in the vibrant Kaimuki neighborhood, this spot specializes in the art of traditional gelato, crafted daily with high-quality ingredients that prioritize texture and flavor over everything else.
Authentic Techniques and Flavor Profiles
Unlike standard ice cream that relies on heavy butterfat, the gelato here is churned slowly to incorporate minimal air, resulting in a dense, silky consistency that coats the palate. You will smell the sweet, nutty aroma of roasted pistachios and fresh vanilla beans the moment you cross the threshold. The menu rotates frequently, featuring classic Italian staples alongside local inspirations. Expect to find deep, dark chocolate infusions and vibrant fruit sorbettos that taste exactly like the raw produce harvested on the island.
The Kaimuki Neighborhood Vibe
This is the ideal stop after an afternoon stroll through the local boutiques of Waialae Avenue. The space is bright and minimalist, putting the focus entirely on the colorful pozzetti containers holding the goods. Be prepared for a minor line during the post-dinner rush, as the local residents often congregate here to snag a cup or a freshly made waffle cone before heading home. It is a casual, no-frills experience where the quality of the scoop does all the heavy lifting.
Whether you are a local living in the Kaimuki area or a visitor exploring the culinary scene beyond Waikiki, 7gradi offers a sophisticated chill-out session. Keep in mind that seating is limited, so most patrons opt to grab their treats to-go and enjoy them while walking through the nearby residential streets.

Jasmine that worked on May 29th at 8:58pm was the rudest person that I have ever met. She was so abrasive and when I asked her to try a flavor she looked at her coworker and said “I can’t do this” what do you mean?! You can’t do customer service?! That’s crazy! I felt forced to pick my flavor… however. Ice cream 10/10 😐 …

11/5! I have an anaphylactic dairy allergy so I am very cautious about trying new places, let alone anything in the orbit of ice creams. I have tried just about everything that’s out there (and safe). So when I say this place leaves everything else in the dust, know that’s said with decades of taste-testing. The sorbet is out of this world. The chocolate, raspberry and pineapple was such a delightful surprise. This is our new must-do stop when on the island. Colleen was kind and friendly and knowledgeable, and quickly gained my trust to try the different options— no easy task for someone with a serious allergy. Please come to the Big island and mainland!

7 Gradi Gelato at SALT is a must-visit! Their sorbets are light, refreshing, and completely dairy-free. Perfect if you’re looking for a cool treat without the cream. I especially appreciated how friendly and helpful the girl working was. She made great recommendations and created such a welcoming vibe. It was the ideal way to cool off on a hot day in Honolulu. Bonus- you can sample before committing to a decision! Pro Tip - get two flavors, you won’t be bummed you did it! Highly recommend stopping in!
