A Quick Bite in the Heart of Honolulu
Located right in the bustling commercial core of downtown Honolulu, 555 Market serves as a functional and fast-paced hub for professionals and visitors navigating the high-rises. This isn't a place for lingering over a long lunch; it is a high-efficiency stop designed to keep the city moving.
Local Grinds and Daily Essentials
Stepping inside, the atmosphere is brisk and no-nonsense. You’ll hear the hum of espresso machines and the quick rhythmic clack of laptops from nearby office buildings. The shelves are stocked with a mix of local snack favorites—think furikake-dusted chips and Hawaiian-made shortbread—alongside fresh pre-made meals for those moments when you cannot step away from your desk. The menu focuses on quality grab-and-go options that highlight local ingredients, perfect for a quick breakfast or a midday recharge.
The Urban Experience
While the footprint is compact and the foot traffic can get heavy during the morning rush, 555 Market provides a reliable sanctuary for those needing a caffeine fix or a chilled poke bowl without the wait time of a full-service sit-down restaurant. It is a quintessential urban market where the efficiency of a city-center stop meets the distinct, casual flavors of Hawaii. Be prepared to navigate a bit of a squeeze during the 12 PM rush hour, but the speed of service makes it a staple for anyone working in the downtown vicinity looking for honest, convenient food.

Like most grocers in Chinatown, the aisles are narrow and product organization is almost non-existent. However, this is the only store in Chinatown that I could find Chinese yeast balls at, so they get that. Customer service is severely lacking, but what can you do...it's Chinatown.

The food price is very over priced. Go to the store across the street you will find the truth. Also, they charge additional 3% service charge on top of your purchase price for paying with a credit card. The merchant should bear the cost and not the customers. So buyers be aware!!!! Customer service is very bad. The staff are not friendly but rushed. The store is extremely crowded. During the COVID time, this is forbidden according to the health regulation. So make sure you are comfortable of being in the store, it is unavoidable to not to bump into someone else.

Very good prices on a lot of items. Yes, it is crowded, there is way too many items jammed into a small store and yes it is in a rough part of town. But wow!!!! Count the saving.
