53 By The Sea
About
A Coastal Landmark in Kaka’ako
Positioned where the Pacific meets the shoreline in Kaka’ako, 53 By The Sea stands as a striking architectural presence. The grand staircase serves as the immediate visual anchor, leading diners into a space defined by high vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows that capture the sweeping panorama of Diamond Head and the turquoise Waikiki coastline. It is a refined destination for those seeking an elevated dinner service, particularly for anniversary celebrations or business milestones.
The Culinary Focus
The kitchen leans into a blend of local Hawaiian ingredients and precise continental technique. The signature 53 Ribeye is a centerpiece, often accompanied by fresh, line-caught local catch that reflects the day’s haul from nearby waters. Executive Chef partnerships often highlight seasonal nuances, ensuring that the heavy reliance on island-grown produce remains front and center. You will smell the faint, salty breeze mixing with the scent of butter-poached seafood as it exits the kitchen.
Refined Atmosphere with a Human Edge
The dining room maintains a polished, quiet luxury, though the acoustics can carry the sounds of clinking crystal during the sunset rush. Be prepared for the exclusivity of the location; the parking situation can get tight during peak valet hours, so allow a few extra minutes for the attendants to retrieve your vehicle. It is a place that rewards those who linger through the transition from twilight to evening, watching the city lights flicker across the water’s edge in downtown Honolulu.

Exceptional experience at Mother’s Day brunch! Views, service, food quality! Recommend for special occasions. We especially enjoyed the tuna tartare and quiche! Caviar was super high quality too. Everything was light and balanced. Perfect portion sizes as well. Cade was the best server, so attentive and knew all the details on how the food was prepared and the ingredients!! Vegetables were locally sourced from farmers, and they change seasonally. Menu was curated perfectly. Loved every veggie taste. They even served green ferns, which was so delicious. Valet parking. Fantastic ocean view. Indoor and outdoor dining. Every table has a great view.

Dinner at 53 By The Sea absolutely delivered 🌊✨ Went with the roast beef paired with a lobster tail — and wow. The beef was perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor, while the lobster was buttery, fresh, and just the right amount of indulgent. That combo alone was worth it. Add in the oceanfront views and the whole experience just hits different. Great food, great atmosphere, and definitely a spot I’d come back to. 🍽️🔥

One of the restaurants with the most beautiful views in Hawaii. It offers a 360° ocean view and overlooks Diamond Head. While dining you can watch sunset cruise boats gradually heading out to sea and see surfers riding the waves.Which creates a wonderful atmosphere. The food are delicious. The service is excellent and valet parking is available. I recommend making a reservation in advance as the restaurant is fully booked every day.

Waikiki strip is amazing and great for all of your touristy endeavors, but I'm telling you, grab a Lyft here because this place has to be added to your list of hot spots to hit for a bit of much needed and deserved decadence off the strip. Do not worry about booking a table on the deck, the views are absolutely stunning, the sunset is breathtaking and they have really gone above and beyond to engineer wind deference and elements since you are so close to the ocean. Watching the surfers so close added to the fun. They have thought of everything. Which, brings me to the food and wine and really fun cocktails. Listen, if you appreciate food plated so well it is like a bon vivants journey through an art museum, you're going to appreciate every single plate here. It isn't just art though, every ingredient is of the highest caliber, fresh, local, or exotic and preserved impeccably. A true symphony of tastes married together mellifluously. And one last huge shout out to their team here, because even the best food can be ruined by bad service, and maybe we got lucky, but our guy was genuinely nice, and a huge fan of the dishes himself so the shared exuberance for each dish really elevated the overall experience. Check out the videos as the menu can change seasonally but this place is definitely #worththejaunt *all pictures and videos are my own and require permission to share

My wife and I ate at 53 By The Sea a while back and somehow forgot to post—but this brunch absolutely deserved the reminder. We’ve always loved brunch here, and once again the service, ambiance, and food were dialed in. The sweeping ocean views, with Diamond Head in the distance, never get old and make brunch feel like a mini escape. We started with the Fresh Oysters, bright and refreshing, layered with preserved lemon, coconut, lemongrass oil, and Haleiwa salt—clean, coastal flavors that set the tone perfectly. The Market Catch was cooked just right and paired beautifully with canary beans, green beans, charred tomatoes, chili, and a punchy green olive salsa verde. The clear star was the Savory Dutch Baby, loaded with Maine sea scallops and Atlantic lobster tail, finished with vanilla drawn butter (and yes, we added the poached egg—zero regrets). Rich, indulgent, and completely worth it. Paired with a crisp Pinot Grigio and those views, it made for another memorable brunch. A consistently excellent spot and one we’ll happily keep coming back to.

Everything I expected it to be. This was a bucket list dining experience for me and it was amazing. McKenna our server was efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. Our food was superb - we started with the Ahi Tartare and for entrees had pork and homemade pasta. Do not skip on dessert! The chocolate lava cake and lilikoi ice cream were delicious!

An Unforgettable Dining Experience with Breathtaking Views 53 By The Sea isn't just a restaurant; it's an experience. From the moment you arrive, you're greeted with stunning interiors and views of Diamond Head and the harbor, dotted with beautiful sailboats. The patio is immaculate and clearly designed for those perfect Instagram shots. Brunch was an absolute delight. The restaurant's commitment to fresh, locally sourced ingredients shines through in every dish. I indulged in their Mimosa’s, trying every flavor from Lychee to classic Orange – each one was delicious, but the Lychee was my personal favorite. The oysters were a unique and delightful surprise, served with the cutest little tropical limes that added a burst of flavor. For my entrée, I opted for the steak and eggs, requesting poached eggs and a perfectly cooked rare steak. The kitchen went above and beyond, even accommodating my request to add a lobster tail. It was cooked flawlessly. My friend, who is Italian, had the shrimp scampi pasta and was thrilled with how perfectly it was cooked to her liking. She also raved about the freshness of the seafood. She asked the bar if they could make her a Caesar and they brought out the perfect Caesar for her with a beautiful garnish on top. To finish, we shared the Kona coffee crème brûlée, which was creamy, rich, and an absolutely beautiful way to end the meal. The service was attentive and friendly, adding to the overall experience. We were pleasantly surprised when the bill arrived; it was less than we anticipated for such a high-quality meal. While 53 By The Sea is undoubtedly an expensive restaurant, it is worth every single penny. The combination of stunning views, exceptional food, and outstanding service makes it a must-visit destination in Honolulu. I would gladly pay the same price again for such an unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommended!
