STONEFISH GRILL
About
Fresh Catches on the North Shore
When you find yourself cruising through the heart of Haleiwa, Stonefish Grill offers a grounded approach to island-style dining. It bypasses the glitz of resort eateries, favoring a relaxed, open-air environment that feels synonymous with North Shore living. You will hear the rhythmic hum of traffic and distant surf chatter, a reminder that you are just minutes from some of the world's most legendary breaks.
What to Expect on Your Plate
The menu focuses on local seafood, with the Ahi Sashimi and blackened fish tacos serving as consistent crowd-pleasers. The kitchen prides itself on utilizing the day’s haul, ensuring that the texture of the fish remains firm and the flavor profiles stay clean. If you order the grilled mahi-mahi, expect a generous sear that balances perfectly with a side of house-made pineapple slaw. The portions are substantial, designed to refuel surfers and travelers who have spent the day in the sun.
A Local Perspective
The aesthetic is unpretentious and functional, featuring communal-style seating that encourages a casual pace. While the dining area can get a bit boisterous during the peak lunch rush when tour buses pass through, it settles into a comfortable rhythm as the afternoon heat fades. Parking in this part of town requires a bit of patience due to the limited stalls along the main strip, but the wait is usually offset by the smell of garlic butter and citrus wafting from the grill. It is a straightforward spot for those who value fresh ingredients over elaborate table service.

I had such a lovely dinner! The ambiance is very relaxing yet classy. I loved the crab rangoon and roasted beet salad. I came with my blind friend during dinner time and because he is blind, finger food is easier for him to eat. So, though they didn't have it on the menu, they were able to make him a fish sandwich! Also 5/5 stars for Tyler! What a lovely, warm, and attentive human!

Food looked way better than it actually tasted. Everything came out nicely plated, but the flavor just didn’t match the presentation. We also had a pretty long wait for our food, which made it a little disappointing. Our server was okay — she seemed nice, just clearly overwhelmed and stretched thin. Overall, not terrible, but definitely not somewhere I’d rush back to. I visited the restaurant on 2/14/2026. We had what I showed in the attached photos.

My wife and I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was not busy, it was nice. We were seated immediately, atmosphere was nice, kinda surprised, from the outside you would never know how nice it is on the inside. We have walked by many times but never came in to eat. The service was excellent, we started with the calamari for appetizers , good flavor but very tough, I couldn't chew it, seams like it wasn't very fresh. We had to send it back and ordered the garlic shrimp instead. This dish was very good. The manager brought over the shrimp and asked about the calamari, we explained how it was very tough. She removed it off our bill and also gave us ten percent of the entire bill. My wife ordered the prime rib, comes with garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables. I ordered the fillet mignon , comes with noodles and vegetables. Meat was cooked perfectly, medium, everything could have used a bit more seasoning but it was good. I think everything was a little too expensive, even for Hawaii. I don't think we will come back, mostly because of the price.
