Ray's Kiawe Broiled Chicken

The only food I ate twice while in Hawaii. It can be a bit salty, but still within an acceptable range. I also recommend the coleslaw. Both cash and credit cards are accepted.

The best chicken we had on the island... and I have been searching for it for 12 years since my first trip out here. Came here just this morning and the place was busy, but running smoothly. They accept Credit/Debit Card which sometimes is not clear with some places like this. The chicken is juicy, the seasoning is great (wish some parts had a little more). I got a meal (with drinks) for 2 adults and one child for under 30 bucks on the island which is no longer common (unfortunately) and it was actually great. I also want to recognize the crew, they were all working in sync which was nice to see. The cashier was very nice, and when not busy she would go plate rice, get new tickets ready and ensure everything was in place. She also somehow managed to keep an eye out for new clients and greeted them all with a smile. Yes, we will come here again.

I had this chicken in 2019 and couldn’t have stopped thinking about it since. And when we tried it again in 2026, it was as good as the fist time. Just perfectly wood charcoal roasted chicken, with a touch of Hawaiian seasoning. The chicken is so crisp and juicy, it’s honestly magical. And it makes my entire trip here in Oahu. Als, Get the side of secret sauce, but skip the slaw - it’s too floppy and watery. Wasn’t as enjoyable.

I’ve eaten a lot of chicken and rice, but Ray’s chicken is at the top of my list. Very juicy and flavorful chicken. It was fun to watch the whole operation behind the counter. 1/2 chicken plate is probably big enough to share between 2. The smoke from the chicken was a bit too much, so I recommend going into the grocery store next door to get a drink / cool down while they prepare your order.

They are in Haleiwa only on Sat/Sun. I looked at their website and found they are at 130 Mango Street Wahiawa, HI 96786 on Tues/Thurs, and so happy that fits in to my north coast travel plan. The chicken is so great and delicious. Even the breast meat is tender.

You can’t get more authentic Hawaiian than Ray’s. The chicken was amazingly flavourful, crispy and just the right amount of smoke. On its own the chicken was delicious but gets kicked up a notch with Grandma’s shoyu. $15 for a plate was a good deal. Pineapple slaw was ok. Prepare to wait. But it’s worth it.

Chicken was from a rotisserie in the parking lot. Fairly quick from time of order to getting it . Chicken was really moist and pineapple coleslaw a nice side . No real atmosphere because your standing in the parking lot waiting to get your food. No place provided to eat so be prepared to go somewhere else to eat.

We had it two times when we visited Oahu. They changed their location, so make sure contact them before go to find them. The chicken is very delicious and tasty, we ordered two whole chicken for 3 adults and 2 kids.

I give this chicken place 100%. This place had some of the best chicken I've ever had in my entire life. One of the things you will find here is an ungodly amount of flies and if that bothers you do not stop. But if you're willing to take the risk and eat some of the best chicken you will ever eat your entire lifetime. This is the place you want to be. I cannot recommend it enough. The employees were super nice and the food was killer. Please note there is no dine-in option nor is there picnic tables to be utilized. Whatever you purchase will need to be taken off grounds or in your car.
