Song's Korean BBQ Restaurant
About
A Taste of Seoul in the Heart of Waipahu
Stepping into Song's Korean BBQ Restaurant feels less like a dining excursion and more like dropping by a neighbor’s kitchen in the middle of West Oahu. The air is perpetually heavy with the savory, charcoal-kissed scent of marinated meats hitting the grill, creating an immediate appetite for anyone walking through the door. This is a no-frills destination for those who prioritize flavor and authentic home-style preparation over polished decor.
The Art of the Galbi
The menu centers on traditional preparation methods, with the galbi standing out as a consistent favorite for locals. Each cut of short rib is marinated with a balance of sweetness and soy, resulting in a caramelized crust that pulls away cleanly from the bone. Unlike high-end establishments that focus on table-side service, here the kitchen delivers generous portions of banchan—the spicy, fermented kick of the kimchi and the cooling crunch of pickled cucumbers serve as the perfect foil to the richness of the main plates.
What to Expect
If you are heading over for a weekday lunch or a weekend dinner, keep in mind that the parking situation in this corner of Waipahu can get tight during peak hours. The space is modest and often bustling, meaning the noise level picks up quickly as the room fills with families and nearby workers. It is an ideal spot for those who appreciate a loud, energetic atmosphere where the sound of sizzling pans and lively conversation takes center stage. Whether you are craving a hearty bowl of soft tofu stew or a platter of thinly sliced pork belly, Song's delivers consistent, unpretentious Korean comfort food that speaks for itself.

My auntie used to take us here all the time when we had sleep over on weekends because the food is awesome and large portions and affordable. She would order two of the special plates and good enough for the four cousins. The small restaurant is in a 2 story building on the street behind Times Waipahu so parking is not an issue. Today, the quality and taste stayed the same, with a fully loaded and worth the price. It included a good size strip each of meat jun, kal bi, BBQ chicken, BBQ beef, 4 veggies and rice for under $23, good enough for 2 meals. The owners are lovely and friendly. The kimchi here is authentic. Also the Spicy Beef Soup is fire.

My favorite place to get Japche on island. They do take out only. The food is delicious! Their Kalbi is extremely tender too!

We wanted a break from the resort food and crazy prices so we drove out to Song's. It looks a little sketch on the outside but this place is the real deal mom and pop shop. Come here for legit Korean fare with great options at a reasonable price. Definitely am coming back if I'm in the area again.
