Poke Stop (94-050 Farrington Hwy Waipahu Town Center)
About
A Culinary Staple in the Heart of Waipahu
For those cruising through the Waipahu Town Center, Poke Stop stands as a landmark for authentic Hawaiian comfort food. Founded by Chef Elmer Guzman, a culinary force who sharpened his skills under the mentorship of Emeril Lagasse, this spot bridges the gap between high-end technique and local casual dining. The air here carries the faint, savory scent of shoyu and ginger—a promise of the freshness waiting behind the counter.
The Flavors of the Islands
The menu is an exercise in local fusion. While the ahi poke is the obvious draw, characterized by its vibrant, ruby-red cubes and perfectly balanced seasoning, the real magic happens with the daily specials. You might find a savory braised short rib or a fresh catch seasoned with local herbs that hits notes you wouldn't expect from a roadside quick-stop. The poke here is never mushy; it maintains a firm, buttery texture that locals demand.
The Real-World Experience
Don't expect white-tablecloth service; this is a place to grab a generous box lunch and find a spot to eat in the sun. The space is modest, and during the lunch rush, the parking lot in the shopping complex can get a bit congested as people flock in for their fix. It is an unpretentious, straightforward experience that prioritizes the quality of the fish and the heart of the cooking over flashy décor. Whether you are a resident of the Leeward side or a traveler looking for a genuine taste of Hawaii away from the tourist hubs, the kitchen team here delivers consistent, chef-driven flavors that define the local food scene.

This was a little gem, we spotted it on the side of the road and it said local so we gave it a shot, and boy did it pay off, the food was really fresh and the service was great, we will be back when we are on this side of town again, we split two flavors of the ahi poke, the garlic and the creamy flavors over a bed of warm rice complimented it very well. I hope this helps you out and have a great day 🤙🏽

Big variety menu. Got the executive chef plate. Everything was great but the rice was under cooked so it was crunchy and stuck to my teeth. The service was great. But my body was hot and red afterwards like I drank 3 shots of whiskey. Idk

The food was good. I liked that we could sample the poke before we ordered it. But their selection wasnt at all what I pictured it would be. I feel like I could have gone elsewhere to get the exact same thing for cheaper. But it was still delicious.
